Professor C.B.D.J. Blake, M.A. was a British archaeologist and the author of the book Greek Art and Archeology. Captured by the Nazis, he was held at the prison camp Stalag VII Z where he was forced to aid the commandant, Major Otto Hecht, in discovering and identifying Greek artifacts. Knowing that he and his fellow P.O.W.s would be executed the minute they ceased to be of use to their captors, Blake would rebury and rediscover the same artifacts over and over again, with Hecht none the wiser. Blake was also the leader of the escape movement within the camp, cooperating with the defrocked priest Zeno to stage a takeover of the camp with the assistance of captured USO performers Charlie Dane and Dottie Del Mar. Following the successful takeover the camp, while Zeno led a mission to take out the Luftwaffe V-2 missile base at the monastery atop Mt. Athena, Blake, Dottie and a defecting Major Hecht went to the Kriegsmarine submarine refueling depot and took it over, successfully destroying the entirety of the fuel there despite fierce resistance from a group of Nazi divers.
