Biography
Umatarō Tenma (Japanese: 天馬午太郎, Hepburn: Tenma Umatarō)
Following the death of his 9 year old son Tobio in a car accident, Tenman looked to recreate his child as an invincible robot that became Astro Boy. Initially, he lived happily with the child robot but came to realise that the artificial son could not replace Tobio. This became all the more apparent when he acknowledged that the robot would not grow up like a normal child. As a result, he ultimately decided to sell his invention to a robot salesman named Hamegg leading to the boy ending up in the circus.
