Fathom Five

Fathom Five are a supervillain team that features in Marvel Comics.

History

The Fathom Five were a strike force consisting of superpowered Atlanteans that were aligned with the At'La'Tique. Taking upon themselves the name of At'La'Tique, an ancient Atlantean phrase meaning the 'Fury of the Sea,' the religious rebels followed various leaders, including Nagala, Shakkoth, and Tamara Rahn. They formed a strike force called Fathom Five, which included Dragonrider, Llyron, Bloodtide, Sea Leopard, and Manowar. At'La'Tique's primary religious beliefs involved wiping out life on the surface world. To achieve this goal, they formed an alliance with Baron Strucker of HYDRA. (New Thunderbolts v1 #3) Fathom Five led attacks against the Persian Gulf and China. (New Thunderbolts v1 #2) In an attempt to begin wiping out surface life, Fathom Five attacked New York City and engaged in rampant destruction while lashing out against whoever they came in contact with. The Thunderbolts attacked and the two teams traded blows until Fathom Five retreated. (New Thunderbolts v1 #1) Fathom Five opposed and defeated the small force Atlantis sent to deal with them. (New Thunderbolts v1 #3) Fathom Five attacked New York, and one of Dragonrider's beasts destroyed the Brooklyn Bridge. (New Thunderbolts v1 #4) Fathom Five did battle with, and was defeated by, Warbird and the New Thunderbolts. (New Thunderbolts v1 #5) Radioactive Man tossed a defeated Llyron back to sea. (New Thunderbolts v1 #6)
