Their plan was to frame Maureen's husband, Neil Prescott, and culminate in killing Sidney. She realized her caller could see her, and that he had already beaten and tied Steve to a lawn chair outside her home. The caller forced her to answer horror movie trivia, and then gutted Steve when she answered a question wrong. Casey made a run for her life, but Ghostface caught her. He gutted her and strung her up to a large tree for her parents to find.

The next day, with the town of Woodsboro, CA reeling from the double homicide, Ghostface called Sidney Prescott at her home. Ghostface taunted her before attacking. The next day, with the town of Woodsboro, CA reeling from the double homicide, Ghostface called Sidney Prescott at her home. Ghostface taunted her before attacking. She staved him off, but discovered her boyfriend, Billy Loomis, nearby. Billy was brought into custody, but Sidney received another call from the killer. He informed her that she "fingered the wrong man...again," implying that he was responsible for her mother's murder a year previously. Woodsboro High school was temporarily shut down for the students' protection after Sidney was attacked by Ghostface in the school bathroom. With hardly anyone around, Principal Himbry was murdered in his office after school let out. He was later strung up to the flag pole as a diversion to get many students to leave Stu Macher's party, where Ghostface struck again. Sidney's best friend, Tatum Riley, was murdered in the garage. Next, Ghostface seemingly murdered Billy Loomis in the upstairs. Ghostface stalked Sidney outside, where he slashed the throat of Kenny Brown. Ghostface stabbed Dewey Riley and continued chasing Sidney outside. Eventually Sidney made her way back inside the house, where she learned Ghostface was really Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. With the help of Gale Weathers, she saved her father and killed both Billy and Stu.

Ghostface (Nancy Loomis)

Main Article: Nancy Loomis

Nancy Loomis was the wife of Hank Loomis and the mother of Billy Loomis. She orchestrated the Windsor College murder spree out of vengeance for Billy's death. She also channelled her hatred for Maureen Prescott, who slept with her husband, onto Sidney. Mrs. Loomis found Mickey Altieri on-line and paid for his college tuition, giving him her motherly help and guidance. Secretly, she set Mickey up to take the fall for the entire copycat killing spree, planning on murdering him after she achieved her revenge. Even if anyone suspected there was a second killer, the persona she created of Debbie Salt that could not be traced back to her.

Ghostface struck at a premiere showing of Stab (1998), the slasher movie based on the Woodsboro Murders. He stalked Windsor College students Phil Stevens and Maureen Evans outside the theater before murdering Phil in the restroom. He put on Phil's leather jacket and joined Maureen inside the theater, posing as her boyfriend. Ghostface stabbed Maureen to death in plain sight of the entire audience. The next night, Ghostface called Cici Cooper at her sorority house. He taunted Cici before chasing her upstairs and throwing her off the roof to her death. This drew the attention of police and local partiers, leaving Sidney alone. Ghostface called and attacked her, but Derek interfered; Ghostface escaped after slicing his arm. The next day, Ghostface scared Sidney at her play rehearsal before calling Randy, Dewey, and Gale in the campus center. Randy stalled the killer on the phone while Dewey and Gale tried to track him down, but Ghostface pulled Randy into Gale's news van and murdered him.

She escapes before they discover Randy is missing. As 'Debbie Salt', she once again approached Gale, after Cotton's interrogation and Sidney's threatening IM messages in the college library. Gale grows tired of her constant chattering and irritant act. Gale insults "Debbie" and sends her off. That night, Nancy attacks Dewey and Gale inside the Windsor College video archives rooms where Nancy stabs Dewey in the back, almost completely killing him. Then, she attempts to kill Gale. However, she ultimately gives up since the glass is resistant to damage. While Mickey reveals his identity to Sidney and murders Derek, he also reveals he had been who killed Maureen Evans, Officer Andrews, Officer Richards and Hallie McDaniel. Meanwhile, Gale catches Nancy outside the theatre on a call, and forces her to hang up, exclaiming the killer is Cotton Weary. At this point, off-screen, Nancy finally threatens Gale at gunpoint and lures her back into Windsor College Theatre. She arrives, having lost her "Debbie" persona and is as wide-eyed and unhinged as her late son was. This is where she is revealed as the mastermind copycat killer, as well as her identity as Billy's mother. "Deb" suddenly double-crosses and shoots Mickey in the left shoulder once and in the chest twice. As Mickey slumps to the floor, he shoots Gale in the side which causes her to fall, presumed dead into the instrumental area next to the stage. Mickey drops as well to the floor, apparently dead.

Ghostface (Mickey)

Main Article: Mickey

A psychopathic film geek, Mickey wanted to create a sequel and be the star of a trial-of-the-century type media circus. Mrs. Loomis found him on-line on a murdering kind of website and paid for his tuition at Windsor College, where he worked himself into Sidney's close circle of friends to make it look like he wasn't the Killer when the murders first started, however, Mickey actually planned on not getting away with the murder spree, wishing to be the center of the following media circus and debate on movie-making ethics.

The first victims of Mickey and Nancy were Windsor College students, Phil Stevens and Maureen Evans. They were killed because of similar names to first Woodsboro Victims, Steven Orth and Maureen Prescott. Both students were attending the premiere of Stab, a film based on The Woodsboro Murders by Gale Weathers. When Phil went to the bathroom, Nancy or Mickey hid in the stall next to him and started quietly rambling, this caught Phil's attention. When he put his ear against the stall wall, Ghostface stabbed him in the ear through the stall. Phil bleed to death. Nancy hid Phil's body and Mickey put Phil's jacket to fool Maureen. Maureen firstly thought it was Phil. Later she noticed blood on the jacket and then Mickey stabbed her in the stomach. She attempted to get away through the crowds, but Mickey stabbed her three times in the back. The audience didn't help Maureen, because they thought that was some kind of publicity stunt. Mickey escaped through the side door of the theater while Maureen climbed onto the stage and let out a painful scream and then finally succumbed to her injuries and died.

Sidney arrived at the mansion, and the killer made her pass a metal detector over her body, then discard her gun. He confronted her with the bound John Milton and revealed he was Roman Bridger, still alive, and confessed he was her half-brother. Roman filled her in on the missing pieces of Maureen's life and murdered Milton. He and Sidney fought to the death, and Sidney prevailed with the help of Dewey and Gale and Mark Kincaid.

Ghostface (Jill Roberts)

Main Article: Jill Roberts

Jillian Roberts was born to single mother, Kate Roberts in 1994. She grew up in Woodsboro, California. Just one year after her birth, the very first Ghostface killing in Woodsboro occurred; the victim being her aunt, Maureen Prescott. As a child growing up, Jill was all too familiar with the name of her celebrity cousin, Sidney Prescott, a survivor of the 1996 Woodsboro Murders, and the name and face protagonist of a successful slasher franchise, Stab. Jill grew up in the shadow of her famous cousin Sidney Prescott. She felt like her mother loved Sidney better, which translated itself into an irrational jealousy toward Sidney's attention, and sought to take it for herself. Not wanting to work hard or get a job, Jill planned a murder spree in Woodsboro to achieve this. She partnered with her friend, Charlie Walker, who was in love with her. Jill betrayed Charlie, stabbing him to death, and set-up her ex-boyfriend, Trevor Sheldon, to look like the second Ghostface killer. She then horribly injured herself to maximize sympathy for her as the new hero. However, Dewey and Gale, find out that Jill was the real killer and not Trevor. They go to Sidney's room and find Jill trying to kill her but they got there in time to pull her off. In the final showdown, Gale is able to distract the psychotic teenager long enough to give Sidney enough time to recover from Jill's attack and be able to electrocute her. Jill recovers and picks up a shard of glass planning to stab Sidney with it, but she is shot by in the chest by Sidney who knows the killer always comes back for one last scare.

Ghostface (Charlie Walker)

Main Article: Charlie Walker

Charlie Walker was born in approximately late-1993 to the Walker family in Woodsboro, California. He was born around two years before the first Ghostface killing in Woodsboro, Maureen Prescott. His entire family life is unaccounted for in the film series. As a major horror film geek, he ran Woodsboro Cinema Club, a preferential title to 'Film Club'. As President of the Cinema Club at Woodsboro High School, he chose his friend, Robbie Mercer as Vice President. He was a particularly obsessive fan of the Stab films and hosted the Stab-A-Thon from 2009 to 2011, approx. age 18 to 19. Implied by Olivia Morris, it appeared to have a different location every year. Charlie was proud of his event-running, and seemed to pointer-check its league table against other high school societies. After Jill Roberts was cheated on by Trevor Sheldon sometime in their sophomore year or the summer before senior year, Jill began a secret relationship with Charlie, who she sat next to in English class. Unbeknownst to Charlie, he was simply a tool in her game. Jill convinced him of manifesting his Stab movie dreams to reality in the form a real-life remake. She convinced him of her vision making them millennial counterparts to Sidney Prescott and Randy Meeks. A film fanatic, he aspired to win the heart of Jill Roberts and saw them as a remake version of Randy Meeks and Sidney Prescott. Jill strung him along, and together they planned a new murder spree in Woodsboro. This would work to continue the stagnant Stab series, as well as propel Charlie and Jill into the limelight for surviving Ghostface's attacks. In the end, Jill betrayed him and stabbed him to death, stating that it would work best for her if she was the sole survivor.

Ghostface (Amber Freeman)

Main Article: Amber Freeman

Amber Freeman was a fan of the Stab movies ever since her parents bought Stu Macher's old house. She essentially becoming a fanatic. She was angry with the sequels, particularly the eighth film, which she deemed to be inferior quality. She later recalls to Sidney Prescott that the problem with the Stab franchise is 'no bad guy to keep coming back'. Amber formed a close friendship with Tara Carpenter. Because of her mother's tendency to get drunk, she discovered that Tara's sister, Samantha was the illegitimate daughter of Billy Loomis, the original Woodsboro killer and mastermind. When Stab 8 (2020) was released, Amber, like many of the fans, were disappointed, not only because it was simply called Stab, but there was a poor storyline that didn't follow the path of the Stab movies' meta slasher whodunit narrative and there was no Sidney Prescott character either. The fans became so mad that they were accused of being a 'toxic' fandom. After being appalled by the events of Stab 8, she connected with other fans on a Stab subreddit, one of those fans being Richie Kirsch. The pair devised a plan to create their own 'requel' to Stab and Amber revealed information about her girlfriend's sister, Samantha Carpenter, that she was the daughter of Billy Loomis, that they could use as the basis for their movie, as well as framing her as the Killer. They went along with their plan, eventually unmasking themselves and Amber was killed after being set on fire and then shot in the head.

One night, close to the 25th Anniversary of The Woodsboro Murders, Amber called Tara while she was home alone and posed as a man named 'Charlie' who was a friend of her mother's from "a group". Tara believed this man was actually her mother's new boyfriend and struck up a conversation with him. Amber, as Charlie, told Tara that her mother stated that she liked horror movies and was surprised when she'd never seen Stab given that she lives in Woodsboro. After 'Charlie' threatens Tara, she hangs up the phone and texts Amber who reassures her that things are fine. Amber calls the home back and then texts Tara from her phone pretending that the caller stole her phone and cloned it and that they are not actually texting with Amber, when in reality she is. Amber messages Tara a fake video of her putting makeup on to make it look like the Killer is stalking her, forcing Tara to answer the phone and play a Stab trivia game. Tara gets the question wrong and then runs to the front door to save Amber, who is standing there under the Ghostface costume, and she slices Tara's abdomen. Tara and Amber get into a war of reactivating and deactivating the home security system and Amber is able to slip inside and catch Tara. Stabbing her seven times and breaking her leg before being interrupted by the arrival of the police.

Ghostface (Richie Kirsch)

Main Article: Richie Kirsch

Richie was a fellow Stab fan and another one who was appalled by Stab 8. After meeting Amber Freeman on a Stab subreddit, they devised a plan to create their own 'requel' and they were going to use Samantha Carpenter as their Killer and Tara Carpenter and her friends as the basis for their movie. Richie tracked down and got close to Samantha, eventually gaining her trust and starting a relationship with her. When Tara gets attacked, he returns to Woodsboro with her and after a few more murders, Richie unmasks himself and is ultimately killed by Sam after underestimating her.

Overview

At first, the serial killer was known only as the Killer and as Father Death. The name given to the killer came from Tatum Riley who referred to their attacker as Mr. Ghostface. Ultimately, there was no single person who held the persona but was rather a shared identity taken on by many serial killers.

The signature weapon of Ghostface was an 8-inch hunting knife that they used to stab their victims to death.

In their interactions, Ghostface was often shown to taunt his targets where they initially represented themselves as charming and even flirtatious when speaking. Over time, these conversations turned confrontational and intimidating where they used their knowledge of other characters or graphically describing their intentions before appearing to the target physically.

The notorious murders committed by the first Ghostface killings resulted in a franchise being developed with these being adapted into the Stab movies.
