History

Grammaton Clerics were a new unique class of soldiers that formed after the first years of the 21st century following the outbreak of the third World War. In the aftermath, society was rebuilt but it was held that mankind could never survive a fourth such conflict and that their destructive volatile natures could not be allowed to flare out of control again. Thus, they created a new arm of the law with these being the Grammaton Clerics that were tasked with eradicating what they deemed to be the true source of mankind's inhuman nature namely their emotions and ability to feel. They soon became the leading enforcers of emotional content within the city of Libria] with them being under the oversight of the Tetragrammaton Council of Libria.

Overview

These clerics are the highest pinnacle within the Librians law enforcement agency. These Grammaton Clerics are trained in the deadly art of Gun Kata which teaches them to predict the actions of their opponents in firearm combat. These enforcers lead squads of soldiers in their pursuit of EC-10 materials. These objcts are found and destroyed along with the apprehending or termination of sense offenders - those individuals guilty of feeling emotions.

To the Clerics, humans intrinsically were drawn to war and conflict. Thus, they sought to remedy this by not correcting the symptom but rather the disease itself. It was this reason taht they sought to shrug off individuality and replace it with conformity. This was in the belief that this unity allowed for each man, woman and child to achieve identical lives in their great society. Such a concept to them meant that identical environmental construction allowed for them to head confidently into moments with secure knowledge that this path was one they had lived before. The Grammaton Clerics were held as being the final line of defense in protecting their society from complete destruction.

Emotions were deemed a crime to the Clerics with any such feelings being regarded as a sense offence. Those guilty of it were subjected to arrest and incinerated for their actions with even the spouses of clerics not immune to this fate. The rulings of the Father held that all sense offenders were to be shot on sight. Works of art that drew emotion were dangerous items with evidentiary teams dispatched to collect and log them.

One of the great talents of the Grammaton Clerics was the art of Gun Katas. This was achieved through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights whereby the Cleric had determined the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle was a statistically predictable element. Thus, Gun Kata treated the gun as a total weapon whereby each fluid position represented a maximum kill zone that inflicted maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents whilst keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. Through rote mastery of this art, a Cleric's firing efficiency rose by no less than 120% that made the 63% rise in lethal proficiency making them an opponent not to be taken lightly in a fight. Among the most skilled were those that developed their talent in the intuitive arts.

Children chosen to be a cleric were taken to a monastery in order to be trained in the arts of the Grammaton.
