  • Hamato Yoshi was created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird where he made his first appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles v1 #1 (May, 1984).

Television

  • In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hamato Yoshi appeared in the 1987 animated television series who was voiced by actor Peter Renaday and actor Townsend Coleman. The Japanese dub of the series referred to the character as Takeshi Yoshihama (吉浜武士 Yoshihama Takeshi). This version was merged with that of Splinter who was exposed to Mutagen thus transforming him into a half-rat humanoid.
  • In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hamato Yoshi appeared in the 2003 animated television series with a different backstory. It was revealed that he was an orphan alongside his best friend Yukio Mashimi where they begged on the streets of Japan in the 1960s. Yoshi returned a 5-yen coin that was dropped by the Ancient One who decided to take the two boys in for their honesty and raised them as his sons. The two were then trained in the arts of ninjutsu where they grew up together in the same house. During this time, the pair fell in love with the same girl named Tang Shen who was another orphan that the Ancient One had taken into his care. She came to love Yoshi more and during this time she came to spare a rat that came into the house which became a pet to them.
  • In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hamato Yoshi appeared in the 2013 animated television series with a different backstory. He was shown to had been born in Japan as a member of the Hamato clan where he was married to Tang Shen and had a daughter named Hamato Miwa.
  • In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hamato Yoshi appeared in the 2018 animated television series where he and Splinter were once again merged into the same character. Originally, he was a descendant of the Hamato clan who defeated the Shredder 500 years ago and prepared to fight the Foot Clan as well as prevent their masters return. However, Hamato did not believe the stories and abandoned his clan's mission and instead use his martial arts to become a movie star with the stage name Lou Jitsu.

  • In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hamato Yoshi appeared briefly in a flashback in the 1990 live-action film.
