History
The Preservers were an ancient alien civilisation that once existed in the Milky Way Galaxy. They were noted as being a super-race who had passed through the galaxy and had rescued primitive cultures that were in danger of extinction and seeding them on other worlds where they could live as well as prosper. As a result, they were responsible for the proliferation of so many humanoid races being scattered across the galaxy.(TOS: The Paradise Syndrome)

- In Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion (1995), writer Ronald D. Moore had considered linking the Preservers with the ancient humanoids seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Chase".
