Biography

Unknown to Vanessa, she was actually the third in a series of clones from a female human template though she would have no knowledge of this event. According to her profile, Schneiders parents were killed Computer Arms Management System robots which fueled her anger initially and she claimed that the incident was behind her in later years. Following this time, she started a career for being hired help for clients who wanted specific jobs done. In the past, she typically met these individuals face-to-face and completed numerous tasks for payment.

Whilst this might conflict to her origins for being a clone, its possible that the memory was implanted in her mind making her believe that she had parents that were killed by CAMS.

She was eventually hired by a mysterious anonymous figure known only as "the Client" who maintained communications with Vanessa through radio and thus never showed their face. Whilst curious, Schneider did not push the matter as she believed the client had their reasons for not meeting face-to-face. The "Client" tasked Schneider with the elimination of rogue CAMS that were killing innocent colonists at various sites. She was tasked with infiltrating a facility on the planet Ode and was teleported to that world whereupon she received instructions from the "Client". To help her on her mission, she was provided with a hi-tech Aegis suit and was briefed on its operations though Schneider was not comfortable about being a human guineau pig for its testing. Despite that, she managed to continue to use the suit against the CAMS defending the facility. She managed to reach the core where she found and battled a giant CAMS known as Sannenblume though her "Client" told her she would be unable to defeat the massive robot. Thus, she urged Vanessa to return back to which she agreed.

As her mission continued, she went about eliminating another site of rogue CAMS. Journeying deeper into the installation, she uncovered a tube tank containing a living being inside and discovered to her shock that it was a female human - one that was completely identical to her. At first, she believed this to be a clone of herself but questioned whether Vanessa herself was a clone of the individual in the tank. She immediately contacted the "Client" and demanded to know why there was a person just like her in the tank. The "Client" simply responded by asking what the status of the individual was to which Schneider said that she appeared alive. The "Client" said that this was unfortunate as the CAMS had activated a self destruct device that gave Vanessa five minutes to depart the facility and thus forced her to abandon the clone specimen in the tank and allowing her to die. Ultimately, she managed to defeat any CAMS that stood in her path and escape the facility before its destruction.

After the destruction of the final CAMS machine known as Alraune, she received a message from the "Client" to go into the doorway at the back. Once there, a holotank displayed an image of the "Client" who was exactly the same as Vanessa. Commenting that her face must be popular, she concluded that her entire mission was essentially done by the same person. She concluded that the "Client" must be the original clone template though she herself confessed that she was not sure and that she pointed out how memories could be manufactured. The "Client" thus stated that for all she knew, her memory could be implanted as well thus making it unclear as to who the original source template for the clones is. When the "Client" asked if Vanessa was still going to make ends meet by living the life of a mercenary - Schneider simply replied that she was going to "sleep" on it and bid the "Client" good night before departing.

The fate of Vanessa Z. Schneider remains unknown as no sequel to the game was made.

Background

Personality and attributes

Vanessa maintained a cool and calm behaviour, even in the heat of battle as on one occasion a group of CAMS attacked and fired on her. In the engagement, she did not flinch when the first blasts missed her and instead she was listening to some music and moving her head with the tune. When the second shot came, she smoothly avoided it and retaliated; destroying both robots with apparent ease. She was confident in her abilities and though she agreed to leave the battle when engaging Sannenblume; she told her "Client" that they underestimated her abilities.

Powers and abilities

She was cybernetically enhanced and made use of a hi-tech suit of form fitting armour known as an Aegis suit that provided her with a number of abilities. This included limited flight and the power to shoot energy blasts from her hands. This was not the only version of the suit available to her as over the course of events; she managed to gain access to a number of additional versions each of which had their own unique attributes as well as powers. The suits contained a destructive energy blast unleashed that came from its Energy Drive that stemmed from the power within the Aegis itself. This Aegis suit was directly connected to Vanessa's spine itself and responded to her commands with lightning speed making her very thoughts its actions. Any depleted energy reserves could be replenished through Energy Pods that could be found.

The weapon systems of the Aegis suit included energy pulse blasts from the hands but also included the firing of swarms of mini-rockets at a target.

With a click, the sun glasses she wore were capable of retracting allowing her real eyes to be shown.
