History
The Windermere Kingdom (Japanese: ウィンダミア王国（風の王国) Hepburn: Uindamia Ōkoku (Kaze no Ōkoku)) was an interstellar nation that was established by the humanoid Windermerean civilisation of Windermere IV. Like humankind and the Zentraedi, Windermereans were descendants of Protoculture, and hence known as the Children of Protoculture. The Windermereans came to see themselves as being the closest to Protoculture.
In A.D. 2027, Windermereans first encountered humans upon the Megaroad-04's discovery of their planet. Diplomatic relations were established on terms which some Windermereans strongly resented.
After a war of secession against the New United Nations Government around 2060 which ended abruptly with the detonation of a Dimension Eater that took millions of lives, the Kingdom secured its independence. Due to security concerns and for propaganda purposes, Windermere severely restricted its citizens from interstellar travel. Despite that, the kingdom intended to resume hostilities in order to seize the entire Brísingr Globular Cluster.
In 2067, King Gramia Nerich Windermere resumed hostilities against the N.U.N.S. in order to seize the entire Brisingr Globular Cluster. As part of their plans, Windermere deployed the Aerial Knights and remotely triggered the Vár Syndrome by projecting Heinz Nehrich Windermere's song through the Sigur Valens, a Protoculture shrine unearthed near the Windermerean capital. As part of their plans, Windermere remotely triggers the Vár Syndrome by projecting Heinz's song through a Protoculture shrine neighboring the Windermerian capital. Further, Vár outbreaks are amplified by the Protoculture ruins of the target planet and through consumption of Voldorian spring water combined with Windermerian apples.
Overview
Within the kingdom, there existed an elite military unit called the Aerial Knights (空中騎士団 Kūchū Kishi-Dan) who were a Variable Fighter unit. Considered as Windermere's elite group of Variable Fighter pilots, the Aerial Knights are trained in various forms of combat. Senior knights act as 'masters' to the younger ones, with the instructional sessions oftentimes done during real-time sorties.
They made use of variable fighters within their military forces.
