Tyr is one of the cities in the tablelands of Athas.
There has been a city on the site of Tyr ever since the Blue Age. Two thousand years ago, Kalak took control of the city, becoming its sorcerer-king. He ruled until twelve years ago, when he was killed by his high templar Tithian, who promptly made Tyr the first city to outlaw slavery.
Tyr's primary sources of income are its iron mines; on any other world they'd not be worth mining, but on metal-impoverished Athas, they represent a massive source of wealth.
