History
Origins
The Mor-Taxan race were an extraterrestrial species that came from the distant planet of Mor-Tax. The Mor-Taxans are intelligent lifeforms that were native to a world called Mor-Tax across the galaxy. The remaining members of the civilization which included several million were travelling towards Earth. (Episode: Among the Philistines) Within the same star system was the planet Qar'To whose inhabitants were noted for being bitter enemies of the Mor-Taxans and desired to thwart their plans. The aliens from Qar'To thought of the people of Mor-Tax as parasites who needed to be exterminated before they managed to spread. Where the Mor-Taxans intended to conquer Earth, the inhabitants of Qar'To intended to stop their plan and "preserve" Humans for use as a future food source. (Episode: The Angel of Death) The Mor-Taxans considered themselves to be a superior species that came from a dying star system in the constellation known to Humans as Taurus. It was located forty light years beyond time and space from Earth. Their homeworld of Mor-Tax was an ancient planet and veritable garden world though its sun was dying. Thus, without light, they faced extinction and the planet Earth was discovered that was closest which had the ability to allow their kind to continue eternally under a new sun. In 1953, the Mox-Taxan army came to conquer the planet Earth and purge its surface of all parasites that included Humanity. They believed that mankind had abused their paradise world and did not deserve the Earth which was why they saw Humans as vermin as well as a plague. Supreme Commander Quinn was known to had sacrificed his family life in order to make a refuge for his dying race. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Archaelogical dating indicated that the Mor-Taxans had visited the Earth for the last two thousand years. They had visited various locations on the planet using various different kinds of starships. One such vessel that was six hundred years old was located in an Indian reserve. (Episode: The Last Supper) They discovered the planet Earth and sent a scout force which invaded the world in order to prepare the way for the rest of their kind. (Episode: Eye for an Eye)
In the year 1953, they invaded the planet Earth as part of an invasion effort to conquer the primitive world who thought the invaders were from the planet Mars. Despite possessing advanced technology and almost overwhelming the native Humans, the aliens fell before bacteria native to the planet which seemingly killed them. This led to the defeat of the invaders and their bodies along with their technology was later removed. In time, the existence of the aliens and their invasion had been forgotten by the Human race who proceeded to continue their lives whilst the United States government suppressed much information on them. (Episode: The Resurrection) After the invasion, all relevant data on the Mor-Taxans and some of their technology was locked away in a military archives bunker where it was classified under Project: Deep Ice. To ensure the security of this data, documentation deliberately mispelt the name of the Project and hit them in different vaults to prevent anyone from easily discerning their location. The contents of this data list upto 10,000 such drums being placed at various sites where the aliens slumbered. (Episode: The Second Seal) At least one alien did not succumb to the bacteria where he managed to survive but was left stranded for the next thirty five years on a hostile alien planet called Earth. This Mox-Taxan, later known as Quinn, managed to survive across the years as his host body had developed an immunity to the bacteria that had defeated his kind. (Episode: The Prodigal Son)
Resurrection
By 1953, the Mor-Taxan's main invasion force was expected to arrive within four years time. (Episode: Among the Philistines) Three million Mor-Taxan colonists along with an army of thousands were warping from Mor-Tax to Earth. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) The defeated Mor-Taxans on Earth remained in this state for 35 years until the year 1988 when the United States moved the bodies in barrel containers which were later placed at a nuclear waste facility. During a raid on the facility at Fort Jericho by terrorists, the barrels got exposed to nuclear radiation which purged the aliens of the bacteria and it was revealed that they had not died but instead went into a deep state of hibernation. They quickly began to possess the various terrorists and other Humans as they renewed their plans to conquer the planet. The freed aliens later established a base of operations in an abandoned underground nuclear test site which consisted of a number of tunnels. (Episode: The Resurrection) A number of Mor-Taxans managed to track down the facility known as Hangar 15, located at Kellogue Air Force Base, that contained the warships that had been left abandoned from the original invasion. Once entering the warehouse, they managed to reactivate the three flying machines and used them to track as well as attempt to kill the humans that had been opposing them. Unknown to the aliens, the humans had planted explosives inside the warships and detonated them which destroyed as well as killed the Mor-Taxans present in them. Elements within the United States government in order not to panic the people of the world stated that the incident was the result of terrorists. While believing the threat had been eliminated, a number of Mor-Taxans had, in fact, survived and continued their plans to gain dominion over the Earth. (Episode: The Resurrection)
Despite their "resurrection", the aliens came upon a new problem which was the radiation that had awakened them from their hibernation. While it was effective in protecting them against Earth's native bacteria, it was also slowly killing them and threatening to kill the surviving Mor-Taxans on the planet. This threatened to end their invasion attempts and despite regeneration treatments to slow the death, they did not have the means to stop it entirely as the planet's natural resources were different from their own. The scientist class believed that it would take time for them to adapt but the longer they waited, the closer the Advocacy faced death. The leadership of the aliens on Earth were unwilling to contact their ruling council as they wanted to shield them from negative information on the invasion of the Human homeworld. In order to ensure they continued to command their forces on Earth, the Advocacy commanded their forces to acquire a special type of plastic and coolant in order to create a containment suit which halted their slow demise. This allowed them to continue to direct their operations from their cave base in the Nevada desert. Though they later lost the facility producing the liquid nitrogen to members of the Blackwood Project, they had managed to acquire enough of the substance to continue their operations. (Episode: The Walls of Jericho)
Activities
The Advocacy later sent their agents in possessed bodies to recover the weaponry of one of their crashed starships and travelled to the site in Grover's Mill which was celebrating the 50th anniversary since the end of the invasion. These aliens managed to successfully retrieve a heat ray from the crashed saucer and attached it to a Human truck where they intended to use it against agents of Project: Blackwood. However, these Humans reflected the beam back with a crystal dish that destroyed not only the heat ray but many of the alien invaders as well. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) Afterwards, they sent further infiltrators to retrieve the data from Project: Deep Ice in order for them to recover more of their hibernating brethren. (Episode: The Second Seal) The Mor-Taxans later sought to recover the Y Fever virus for use as a bioweapon against Humans only to learn that it affected their mental faculties as well upon exposure. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) A danger came to the Mor-Taxan invasion when one member of the Advocacy suffered from diminished mental faculties after being infected with Chicken Pox. Unable to heal this individual with their low resources, the aliens were forced to move into the city to the Lyndon Power Plant gather the much needed resources to heal this individual thus restoring the Advocacy to full power. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Mor-Taxan scientists also developed a toxin in the form of spores which they intended to eliminate Humanity. To distribute the toxic spores, they infiltrated Mason International and possessed its CEO Marcus Mason to mix the toxin into radiation resistant grain. The intention was to decimate the Human population and leaving the survivors too few to resist the conquest of the planet. Only three of the freighters were launched before the rest were stopped by members of Project: Blackwood though the aliens retained the capacity to make more of the toxin. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) Twelve kilograms of plutonium was later stolen by the Mor-Taxans with the intention of detonating a nuclear explosion in order to trigger open warfare between the United States and the Soviet Union. (Episode: Epiphany) They later attempted to infiltrate Operation: Blackwood though their agent was killed. (Episode: Among the Philistines)
Furthermore, they tried to use subliminal messaging to brainwash a Human scientist to help create a vaccine for common bacteria. This subliminal messaging also made those that heard them feel that the Mor-Taxans were peaceful travellers that were scared of Humanity's destructive potential. The vaccine was, however, secretly contaminated with ammonia that killed three alien subjects. (Episode: Choir of Angels) They later saw on television about an auction of a Humanwhere a person was selling a Native American artifact. Unknown to anyone except the aliens, it contained an alien starter able to activate one of their warships that would have made their conquest of Earth easier. Despite being uncovered, the activated ship was destroyed in a cyclone in Native American lands. (Episode: Dust to Dust) The Mox-Taxans later attempted to study Human physiology in order to learn of their immune systems to better solve their own problem with Earth's bacteria. This led to abduction of test subjects to the alien caverns but the initial attempts were a failure as the Human subjects spoilt too easily due to the radiation. Thus, the Advocacy decided to take the experiments outside where they would survive longer. This led to secret activities being conducted from a confiscated ambulance though their activities attracted the attention of Project Blackwood after one of the test subjects began suffering from nightmares from the missing time when she was abducted but later kidnapped her to harvest the implant they placed in her. (Episode: He Feedeth Among the Lilies) Another goal of the Advocacy was to eliminate the renegade Mor-Taxan known as Quinn who had escaped numerous attempts at being captured or kiled. This was because of the immunity his host body had to Earth's bacteria and the Advocacy's interest would have led to Quinn's death which was why he became a renegade as he wanted to survive. Quinn, however, also proposed an alternative where 10% of Earth's population would be culled where the remaining would live in preserves far from the Mor-Taxans where they would live life immortal. (Episode: The Prodigal Son)
New Developments
Another initiative sponsored by the Earth based Mor-Taxans was to paralyse Human communication systems. Their studies of Humans led them to determine that they were social animals and that preventing them from communicating with one another would lead to chaos within their society. This was believed to leave Humans vulnerable to all forms of attack. (Episode: The Meek Shall Inherit) A hybrid offspring child was also the initiative of the Mor-Taxans to recover to help cure them of their weakness to Earth's bacteria. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) The aliens later discovered a secret meeting between Human nations that sought to organize resistance against the Mor-Taxans which the Advocacy attempted to sabotage. By this point, the Blackwood Project estimated that anywhere between one thousand to five thousand aliens were present in the United States. (Episode: The Last Supper) One of the problems faced by the Mox-Taxans was during their breeding cycle when their Earth born offspring were dying due to exposure to radiation. A hatchery was established at an ice factory to replicate the cold conditions of their homeworld to allow the firstborn children to hatch from their eggs. However, a critical blow came when the offspring were all killed by the Blackwood Project. (Episode: My Soul to Keep) An attempt at creating designer narcotics to induce violent psychotic behavior in humans also failed when the subjects turned against the handlers that led to the Advocacy discontinuing the program. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap) A Mor-Taxan scout pod was later discovered within a crater in ice by Spirit Lake, Wisconsin where it was confiscated from the Blackwood Project by the secretive military branch known as Project 9. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus)
A more dangerous threat emerged for the Advocacy when an android from Qar'To called Katara came to Earth in search for the Mor-Taxan leaders in order to eliminate them. Across a period of three days, Katara eliminated 41 Mor-Taxans that she interrogated but failed to gather the necessary information as the aliens killed themselves rather than betray their leaders. The Advocacy in the mean time learnt that their forces were being decimated but were unaware as to the source of the threat which led to a notification to all their units of the danger. By the fourth day, 86 Mor-Taxans were killed across four cities where the Synth failed to learn the location of the Advocacy as each alien killed themselves rather than reveal the location of their leaders. The Advocacy decided to personally intervene in the destruction of the Synth assassin. They failed in preventing the Synth from departing the planet and commented that mankind had no idea on the reasoning of the Qar'Tao's intentions for the Human race. (Episode: The Angel of Death)
Afterwards, the failed Mor-Taxan soldiers were rounded up by the newly arrived Morthren who terminated them due to their failure in conquering the planet Earth. (Episode: The Second Wave)
Physiology
Biology
The Mor-Taxans were a bipedal species with a greenish leathery hided skin. (Episode: The Resurrection) Structurally, the aliens were stated to hold more in common with Earth's jellyfish than mammals. Physiologically, they had a liquid core that carried neurological information and arterial matter. Their stable upright carriage was supported by a web-like muscular structure with no skeletal structure. Aliens were bipeds that stood at five and a half to seven feet tall with a single cyclopean eye in the center of its forehead. (Episode: The Last Supper) Their anatomy consisted of three arms each of which possessed three long fingers. They also possessed three eyes on their heads. They were stronger then normal Humans but despite this strength, they were capable of being killed by projectile weapon fire. Their reflexes were also fast enough to the point that they were able to catch a rifle propelled grenade in their hands. (Episode: The Resurrection) Mor-Taxan strength allowed them to easily overpower Humans and had enough strength to break through wooden doors with their fists. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) Hot steams were also able to harm them in their natural form in the same capaciy as it did to a normal Human. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) Mox-Taxans also had the ability of probing the minds of others by using their natural limbs and touching the temple of a Human. This contact led initially to pain whereupon the subject enters into a docile state where they responded to the commands of the aliens. In addition, this allowed some elements of their knowledge to pass to the Mox-Taxan. Following the removal of the alien limb, clear definitive scarring was left behind on the dead Human victim and a mucuous-like saliva left behind. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) They were known to use their third chest arm to stab humans in their eyes in order to kill them. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) Upon taking a host, a Mor-Taxan seemingly altered their blood chemistry because if stabbed Humans bled a green blood before dissolving. (Episode: The Second Seal) Severed limbs of a Mor-Taxan also underwent the dissolving process. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) In terms of nutrition, members of the race were known to eat the petals from flowers when within Human host bodies. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) As a result, they were known to gather and consume large amounts of vegetables with plants that were high in chlorophyll. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus)
Their physiology included a brain stem which supplied a light greenish fluid that was an essence of their being. (Episode: Choir of Angels) Syringes used to extract blood from the creatures were filled with a greenish fluid. Each cell contained the combined genetic material of the entire Mor-Taxan organism. The fact that the aliens demonstrated the ability to blend with normal humans led to some speculation that the cells between the two races was compatable. This led to some consideration on whether the implantation of alien cells within a human allowed mankind the capacity to understand the Mor-Taxan thought processes. The distillation of the alien genetic material mixed with certain select chemical compounds was capable of linking a Human with a Mor-Taxan. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus) A more unusual ability was the capacity to communicate through electrical cables and to a computer. One alien was able trouogh simple contact with cables to communicate with a human on a computer in text. At the same time, the Mor-Taxan was able to access the contents of a computer and even go through the database of distant computers with this ability. Through an amazingly short period of time, the alien was able to absorb an entire database into its mind. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus)
It was initially believed that bacteria native to the planet Earth had a harmful as well as lethal affect on the aliens biology. This was only partly true as it did have a negative effect on them but it did not kill them. Instead, it left them in a deep hibernative state whilst the bacteria remained within their bodies. However, the use of radiation that purged their bodies of the bacteria was capable of bringing them out of their hibernative state. (Episode: The Resurrection) The problem with this "salvation" was that the radiation also heated the aliens metabolism to dangerous levels and slowly led to them dying. (Episode: The Wall of Jericho) Their deitary requirements also included vegetable and plant matter. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) Mor-Taxans proved vulnerable to the disease known as Chicken Pox which afflicted their mental capacity and required treatment. Whilst they were able to purge the disease from an infectee, the degeneration of the mental system remained and required further treatment in order to cure the infected individual. Sufferers were withdrawn and unable to entirely function unless they were healed. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Ammonia, even trace amounts of the substance, had an allergic reaction on Mor-Taxan tissue. Its effects included breathing difficulties, intense pain and eventually death that killed both the aliena long with its host who melted into an organic goo. (Episode: Choir of Angels) Another notable element of their biology was their partial resistance to the Y Fever virus. In normal Humans, the virus melted the brains of the infected which made it the perfect bioweapon as they died within seconds after exposure. Mor-Taxans, however, did not die from the virus but suffered from a mutation where they became violent, unpredictable and rogue as a result. They became deranged and irrational in their thought patterns whilst they mixed their own mindset with that of their host bodies which made them dangerous to encounter. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name)
The aliens mated during part of a cycle that came every nine years and produced embryonic children that hatched from eggs. This was considered their cycle of life and the species held an imperative to ensure that it was not broken. Mor-Taxan children required a set environment in order to grow and spawned in pools. The foetus developed within tri-sided eggs that resembled a pod or cocoon hatched in a period of around seventy two hours. Even newly hatched offspring possessed a great deal of strength when compared to Human beings. High radiation from atomic testing caused the developing offspring to burn out and die. A more fitting environment needed to be a cold one that was similar to their original homeworld. (Episode: My Soul to Keep)
Mor-Taxans were able to handle minor levels of radiation compared to humans. They were able to be exposed to nuclear material without the need for a radiation suit. The levels that they were able to handle was enough to kill ordinary human beings. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus)
Transmutation
One of the more insidious abilities of the Mor-Taxan race was the capacity to merge with other species and take them as hosts. This made them perfect infiltrators as they now inhabiated the body of another species allowing them to blend into that environment in a process known as transmutation. There were, however, some signs that indicated such possession which were scarring and lesions on the body. Whether in their natural form or when possessing a host; a Mor-Taxan was capable of speaking either the Human language or their own which was a booming alien voice. While in possession of a host, a Mor-Taxan was capable of projecting its third arm from the body in order to attack its enemies whilst it was still inside a human body. If killed, the creature died and disintegrated leaving nothing behind of the host body except their clothes as they decomposed into slime. Tissues samples taken from these bodies revealed that they were no longer Human anymore with the DNA being a mixture of Human and alien. On a genetic level, it was as if the cells of both species merged to create something new and unique. (Episode: The Resurrection) The process made them effectively invisible and indistinguishable from Humans though Qar'To androids were able to discern a Mor-Taxan from their auras. (Episode: The Angel of Death) This was accomplished through what was termed as a cell-phase matching technique where Mor-Taxan cells overtake their Human counterparts through osmosis. The bonding allowed all the genetic information from the Human cells to communicate to the alien cells. Ultimately, the process kills the Human victim but not before absorbing all the intelligence of the victim. (Episode: The Walls of Jericho) Aliens were never had been observed melding into animals or children which led to the Blackwood Project theorizing that they need a certain minimal mass in order to take a host. (Episode: The Last Supper)
The Mor-Taxans had the ability of taking over Human bodies with the theory by the Blackwood Project holding that this was accomplished through cell phase matching. It was believed that the aliens were capable of absorbing themselves completely into the Human body where the like cells matched up whereupon they take complete control of the intelligence of the host with the Mor-Taxan in control. (Episode: Among the Philistines) By inhabiting Human bodies, they were able to take part in the perfect cover to hide amongst mankind. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Some Human bodies, such as elderly ones, were incapable of handling the trauma of possession as they were too fragile leading to their death. (Episode: Choir of Angels) In one rare case, a genetic twist within a host body that provided a Mox-Taxan immunity from Earth's bacteria also trapped them within the Human form and prevented them from leaving it. Possessed hosts gained the Mor-Taxans enhanced strength that, according to Quinn, allowed them to crush a Human skull as if they were crushing a cockroach. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Possession allowed a Mor-Taxan to know everything its host body knew. (Episode: The Meek Shall Inherit) A greatly weakened Mor-Taxan was also unable to undergo the transference process. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) The longer the person was possessed, the paler their skin and the more lesions were present on the body. It was possible for them to leave a host body but this depended upon on how strong they were as a Mox-Taxan who was weak was incapable of leaving decaying bodies. (Episode: The Second Seal) It was known that a chemical change when they took over a host body and that dead bodies were not worthwhile for them to use in possessing. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) A Mor-Taxan within a Human host dying of disease had their physical forms gradually age into a dessicated husk. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) This was the alien residue of a Mox-Taxan essence transfer. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) Dead aliens in their host dissolved into a decomposing mass of alien as well as human tissue due to an exothermic reaction in their cells. (Episode: The Last Supper)
Mor-Taxans were able to use their hosts to render Humans unconscious by a simple touch to the back of the neck. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap) In one case, a Mor-Taxan shifted from a male body into a pregnant female one who ultimately gave birth to a hybrid offspring. The child was believed to had held the cure to potentially curing the aliens of their vulnerability to the planet's bacteria. The Mox-Taxan as a result of the child birth was noted to had been greatly weakened and unable to shift bodies until it recovered. Its offspring was a blending of human and Mor-Taxan cells as well as tissue in a single half-breed organism. Notable aspects of the hybrid included enhanced maturity which was theorized to be an aspect of Mor-Taxan aging process in that they reached maturity in a few hours after birth. As it grew, the initially Human appearing child grew more deformed and violent. Projections showed that during its transformation spurs that it was able to reach 35 in a matter of moments. There was noted for a triple heart beat being felt and an apparent link between parent to offspring that was seemingly telepathic with the parent going to any lengths to unite with their child. This hyrid ultimately aged a hundred years in a single day and curiously died only to give birth from the decomposing remains to a new pure human bred child. It was suspected that the death of the aliens Mor-Taxan parent somehow killed the alien portion of the hybrid. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born)
Society
Culture
Some considered the aliens to be a highly advanced species and much more evolved when compared to Humans. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus) They possessed their own alien language that was a clicking tongue though they seemed able to speak Human languages. They were also capable of making use of radio signals that provided coordinates on a planetary grid which could be deciphered by Humans. The number three held great importance to the Mor-Taxans and was their prime numbers with everything they did in combinations of three. They possessed three arms, their warships flew in groups of three, their optics were divided into three units and they attacked enemies in three different directions with even primitive weapons such as bolos possessed three weighted ends. In addition, they often went back to back in groups of three where they communicated on a biological level with one another. (Episode: Resurrection) Mor-Taxans considered themselves to be a superior species and one that was greater than any organism in the Milky Way Galaxy. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) In terms of mindset, the Mor-Taxans held a deem view on Humanity and believed them to be the equivalent of fungus and that they did not negotiate with such a lowly species. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) They believed Humans to be little more than primitives with a self destructive nature which they believed was their greatest weakness but also their greatest strength thus making them a danger to Mor-Taxan domination. As a result, they saw a Human controlled Earth as a truly filthy environment. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) They felt that Human brains were completely useless but had their uses for their technology. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Mor-Taxans believed dialogue was impossible with Humans but demands were able to be made and had no concern about leaving only 10% of the Human race alive with the rest being poisoned. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Mor-Taxans had no regard to Human life with them becoming more deadly as their numbers increased. (Episode: The Last Supper) They were not above promising freedom to Humans yet made use of lies to accomplish their goals. (Episode: Vengeance Is Mine)
In terms of tactics, the aliens after they were defeated tended to use ambush tactics to gain an advantage over their enemies. In one case, they managed to ambush a Delta Force team by attacking them one at a time as well as possessing their bodies thus increasing their own numbers whilst reducing the number of opponents. They were also capable of using other races weaponry against them with a number of Mor-Taxans on Earth quickly learning to use projectile weapons. Their mentality, however, sometimes meant that they did not understand certain forms of more primitive technology as in one case a Mor-Taxan controlled host managed to snatch a rifle propelled grenade in his hands but was confused on what the device was thus giving it time to explode and kill the alien. (Episode: The Resurrection) The Mor-Taxans during their invasion of Earth were known to capture Human prisoners with intelligent individuals being used to have their brain matter put to good use. However, some of these individuals were known to be used as replacement host bodies with the strongest being awarded to the ruling leaders of the Mor-Taxans. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Their scientists were not above studying and dissecting live Human specimens. Some of these scientists that the elimination of the disease ridden loathsome Humanity was reward enough for their efforts. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) Scientists amongst the Mor-Taxans believed Humans to be hopelessly combatitive with a 96.85% chance that they would annihilate themselves as a result of tribal warfare. They believed mankind to be a parasitic race of cretins. (Episode: Epiphany) Human television they also felt was garbage and dulled the mind. (Episode: Dust to Dust) Even a rebel Mor-Taxan claimed that whilst he had nothing against Humans, that their stench was offensive and that all should be killed. (Episode: The Prodigal Son)
The species did not accept failure and individuals that did fail in their duty were expected to commit suicide as part of their obligation. Before killing themselves, these individuals stated the phrase "To life immortal". (Episode: The Second Seal) This was a common saying amongst the aliens. (Episode: The Walls of Jericho) Those that return in failure were taken away to be terminated to fulfill their obligation. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) Failed aliens were either executed or given the "honor" of taking their own lives instead. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap) They were described as being fanatical soldiers who were willing to commit suicide rather than be captured. (Episode: Among the Philistines) Mor-Taxans were known to possess mates and children. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) In terms of culture, the Mox-Taxan known as Quinn was known to had developed beautiful works of Earth after he adapted to Human culture. He claimed that the stars was the source of his imagination, invention and of life immortal. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Mor-Taxans believed in the propagation of their race as part of the Circle of Life. Those newborn children were dying within their eggs were usually killed as part of a ceremony where the phrase "We return to thee to Mor-Tax. The make of those who come and those who went before... to life immortal!" was spoken. Their belief in the circle of life and birth of their children meant that they were outraged at the thought of one of their embryo children being stolen. This anger came to the point that they believed only Humans were capable of such actions and that the Mor-Taxans would be doing a service to the universe by wiping out mankind. These initial offspring born on Earth were referred to as the Firstborn that would walk on their new homeworld. (Episode: My Soul to Keep)
Members of the scientists caste were relegated to a lower class within the Mor-Taxan hierarchy. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap) The concept of a triumvirate was highly important to the aliens who worked to remain united as three. A hybrid offspring was seen as a bastard child by its Mor-Taxan parent who was urged to destroy the child. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born)
Government
Among the higher caste of Mor-Taxans formed a triumvirate known as the Advocacy with each member being called an Advocate. This body was considered indivisable and were a trinity of indisputed strength as well as wisdom. A group of three was a requirement and the loss of a single member meant the remaining members were capable of only the most simplistic activity with reduced intelligence. Any counsel that they gave was considered less than perfect and any actions they suggested was seen as increasingly unreliable along with being indecisive. Their move to restore a fallen Advocate was described as a perfect example of their logic systems and problem solving capabilities. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) They were considered the ruling class that were three that ruled thousands with some believing that they were more concerned about seeking glory instead of the survival of their kind. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) The Council of the Mor-Taxans left no margin for error. Each member typically referred to another as "comrade". They considered the inhabitants of Earth to be primitives but after their initial defeat they considered them somewhat clever. (Episode: The Resurrection) The leadership of the forces on Earth consisted of a truimvirate of Mox-Taxans known as the Advocacy, each of which were known as an Advocate. Beneath them was a class system with the elite often stating that the lower classes were alike in the sense that they had excuses for every shortcoming. (Episode: The Walls of Jericho) It was often stated that the lower classes were incapable of thinking for themselves and thus required the leadership as well as direction of the Advocacy. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) A biological means of communication often occured when three Mox-Taxans went back to back with one another where they attempted to reach a consensus. (Episode: The Resurrection)
Below the Advocacy resided the position of Commanders who were responsible for leading the various operations for the Mor-Taxans. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) One rank within the Mor-Taxans was Wa-if-sof (One Who Knows) who were the supreme commanders of the alien armies; Quinn was known to hold this position. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) Action squads were deployed into the field to accomplish set objectives. (Episode: Dust to Dust) Satisfactory service by operatives led to them being rewarded such as being given innoculated first from Earth's bacteria. (Episode: Choir of Angels) Not all Mor-Taxans were allied with their leadership with their existing the potential for rebel traitors in their ranks. This was notable in the form of Quinn who reprsented the army that opposed the glory seeking ruling class that had ignored the warnings of their scientists. (Episode: The Prodigal Son)
The leadership of the Advocacy was valued highly by the lower ranking Mor-Taxans who were considered as nothing without the counsel of their superiors. (Episode: Goliath Is My Name) In fact, they were said to hold a collective consciousness that was critical for their society because if one of the Advocacy died then all died. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Agents from the Advocacy claimed that their leaders did not kindly on delays to their plans. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap) The death of the Advocacy was described as being a critical blow for the aliens as their lower ranking subjects would ultimately die without their guidance. (Episode: The Angel of Death)
Technology
Construction
Construction material of Mox-Taxan technology was highly advanced with metals capable of resisting the tips of diamond drills without even a scratch being made on them. Hydrogen-flouride laser beams were shown to also reflected off the exterior as if it was a mirror. The material was of unknown origin and was seemingly impenetrable by Human technology. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus) Their science allowed them to easily retrofit their advanced weaponry to more primitive technology. One example was when a group of Mor-Taxans salvaged one of their starships heat beams and fitted it onto a Human truck. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) Reports given to the Blackwood Project indicated that the aliens technical skills allowed them to rig a kitchen appliance into a communication device whilst turning a vacuum cleaner into a machine to locate a hidden starship located underground. They were able to communicate across light years by using these makeshift devices. Mor-Taxans made efforts to ensure that their technology did not fall into Human hands. (Episode: The Last Supper) They were also able to use material resources in the environment to create more sophisticated and advanced Mor-Taxan technology such as medical equipment so long as the power requirements were met. (Episode: To Heal the Leper) Quinn was able to produce a laser lock that sealed a door by what he described as a simple principle of physics that was able to prevent anyone from moving through the doorway for thirty minutes. When asked if it was a force field, he simply replied that it was all the same thing for one who understood the universe. (Episode: The Prodigal Son) They were able to use their science to create artwork that was unlike any seen by Humans. (Episode: The Last Supper)
Mor-Taxan warships made use of an silver trisided pyramid machine called a starter to activate these starships. When worn, it emitted a strange alien noise. These handheld devices resembled refined crystal that fit in the palm of the hand. When used properly, it glowed with a green light and transmitted to its user the location of the vessel it was linked towards. Data included direction and coordinates to the necessary craft. When the near the ship, the starter crystal allowed the aliens to activate the systems and open the doorway into the craft. (Episode: Dust to Dust) Access to their scout pods or ships tended to make use of magnetic locks. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus) Mor-Taxans also created hand-held three sided pyramidical shaped green crystals that generated electric pulses and had a drug-like addictive euphoric effect on Humans. Humans falling under the influence desired further contact and facing symptoms such as withdrawal. The crystal was also able to generate green energy pulses that sent individuals flying backwards and also reacted to exposure to light. (Episode: The Second Seal) They also were able to develop bracelets that were linked to one another and forced one wearer to be pulled to the other upon activation. The bracelets did not come off unless the user wanted them to do so. (Episode: The Prodigal Son)
Though they often made of remarkably more advanced versions of technology, these aliens were quite capable of using more primitive devices such as Earth technology to suit their needs. Furthermore, whilst Human scientists were unable to fully comprehend the advanced technology, there was the belief that the aliens had operated them through brain impulses. (Episode: The Resurrection) There science was also sufficiently advanced to help slow down the degeneration process on their physiology which was caused by radiation exposure. Through the use of plastics as well as a coolant system, they were capable of creating life support suits designed to protect the wearer from radiation as well as harmful bacteria. (Episode: The Walls of Jericho)
The aliens were able to send communication signals from across space to their counterparts on Earth. (Episode: Among the Philistines) Similarly, they used signals to alert one another and generate distress signals. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) They were also able to create subliminal messaging and embedding it within music in order to brainwash Humans that listened to it. This was done by the use of a beta wave that meant that any command that was repeated led to a subject being more receptive by stimulating the pleasure centers of the brain making it highly addictive. It made Humans believe that the aliens were peaceful Travellers who were benevolent. The effects on a Human were profound and were able to turn a persons entire value system to favor the Mor-Taxans. Furthermore, those afflicted suffered the effects similar to withdrawal seen in drug users as they would do anything to hear the subliminal messaging. Longer exposure meant the person became more violent when denied listening to the messaging. (Episode: Choir of Angels) They were able to interface their crystal tripyramid devices with Human technology in order to achieve such feats as paralysing global communication. (Episode: The Meek Shall Inherit)
Weapons
The Mor-Taxans possessed a number of flying machines that were capable of travelling into space and floating over planetary environments. These machines possessed powerful weaponry with the primary being located on a stalk-like device that projected a strong heat ray. (Episode: The Resurrection) This death ray was powerful enough to disintegrate objects such as a car. (Episode: Eye for an Eye) These death rays seemingly generated a specific sonic frequency when being fired and it was theorised that the use of such a signal was capable of creating a feedback in the weapons own power source. (Episode: The Raising of Lazarus) In addition to this, they had smaller weapon emplacements that fired greenish pulse blasts. It was known that the fighting machine of the Mor-Taxans were seemingly impervious to nuclear weaponry which was attributed the energy sihelds generated by the craft. Despite this being the case, they were vulnerable to explosives being planted and detonated inside the machines. (Episode: The Resurrection)
In terms of infantry scale weaponry, the Mox-Taxans created energy weapons that were able to fit into the hands of a Human. These weapons were bommerang shaped and projected outward where they fired two green energy bolts at either end at a target. The strength of the blast was strong to leave a hole in a concrete wall in a bunker or were capable of disintegrating targets. (Episode: The Second Seal) They were also able to construct smaller heat ray styled weapons through the use of optics and rubies. Some of these weapons were capable of being held within the hand of a Mor-Taxan. (Episode: Vengeance Is Mine) More complex weapons included circuit disablers that were able to destroy Qar'tao Synth assassins. (Episode: The Angel of Death)
One of their most primitive weapons were bolos which contained three weights instead of two. These were used when they lacked advanced forms of weaponry and needed to capture targets alive as well as disabled. (Episode: The Resurrection)
Biological sciences
They were able to construct sophisticated healing devices from common technology found on Earth. One such medical instrument that was used to heal the mental faculty of their kind suffering from Chicken Pox was larger than a Human body and resembled a double sided pyramid crystalline structure. Part of this treatment involved freezing the degeneration to involve the healthy cells to renew themselves. Within this machine was the removed brains from Human bodies that were fused into an essence that would be used to restore an afflicted Mox-Taxan. This process, however, required a degree of power and brain matter numbering upto three dozen to accomplish successfully. From a long needle tip below, a small green fluid was distilled from the brains that regenerated the body of a Mor-Taxan within its Human host to the point that it restored their youth. The container was described as being so complex yet so simple but Humans were unable to tell if it was elemental or synthetic. Touch contact with the device led to it shattering into glass components. (Episode: To Heal the Leper)
Their knowledge in the biological sciences also allowed them to create a parasitic toxin unlike anything seen on Earth. This toxin was able to kill Humans following ingestion and brought a catastrophic impact on their bodies. (Episode: The Good Samaritan) Another potent biological poison was shown to be a greenish oil based substance that could be dispersed in the air in order to kill Humans. This substance was highly acidic and melted materials with toxic fumes in the air that killed organic beings. (Episode: Unto Us a Child Is Born) Their medicinal tools included a torch-shaped device that projected a green light that left Humans unconscious alongside other invasive tools. This included an implant that was placed behind the rib that was left there for six months until it was later harvested whereupon the aliens consulted the data on a subject's immune system. (Episode: He Feedeth Among the Lilies)
Mor-Taxans were also able to create special narcotics that, when introduced into a Humans system, turned them into violent killers. This was through experimentation with the development of designer drugs and create specific side effects by experimenting with certain formulas on Human test subjects. Subjects initially faced happiness before going into a transition state where they became increasingly violent. Initial problems faced during testing included the test subjects further transitioning from violence into complete paranoia where they were considered useless by the Mor-Taxans since the Humans became hysterical. The completed drug molecule was capable of first stimulating the pleasure centers of the brain before inducing psychotic episodes. (Episode: So Shall Ye Reap)
