History
The Paternoster Gang were a group of detectives active in Victorian London named after Paternoster Row, the street on which their de facto headquarters were located. (Episode: The Great Detective) It was comprised of the female Silurian Madame Vastra, a human female named Jenny Flint and a Sontaran named Strax. (Episode: The Snowmen) The groups origins were traced to the Victorian era when a group of Silurians including Vastra awoke during the construction of part of the London Underground and had wanted to take revenge on innocent tunnel workers for the deaths of her 'sisters'. After Vastra had slaughtered at least five commuters, the Doctor convinced her not to give in to rage. At some point, she hired Jenny Flint as her maid where during the course of their relationship the pair entered into a romance. (TV: A Good Man Goes to War, The Snowmen)
They were chosen by the Eleventh Doctor to help him save Amy Pond from Madame Kovarian and the Order of the Headless Monks at Demons Run. (Episode: A Good Man Who Goes to War)
Soon after, the Eleventh Doctor arrived in Victorian London to retire after losing his most beloved friends with the Paternoster Gang soon becoming known as 'the Doctor's friends'. They had tried to convince the Doctor to return to his universe-saving career but he would not listen to them. Soon after, on 24 December 1892 the three of them along with the Doctor and Clara Oswin Oswald defeated the Great Intelligence and stopped his plan to take over the Earth using telepathic snow. During this adventure, Clara died which snapped the Doctor to a sense of his old self and he went about travelling across time and space. (Episode: The Snowmen)
