History

The Jedi Order was an organisation that consisted of Force-users that became Jedi that existed a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Long ago, they came to be embedded with the galactic government that was the Galactic Republic.

After the Clone Wars began, the Jedi sought to defend the Republic where they enlisted to serve as General's for the newly formed Grand Army of the Republic that consisted of the newly bred Clone Troopers.

Overview

Organization

For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were said to be the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic.

Their powers stemmed from the Force which gave a Jedi their power with this being an energy field created by all living things that surrounds all beings and bound the galaxy together.

Children trained in the Force spent time as Jedi Younglings who were divided into ten clans consisting of 20 such candidates that were trained in the Jedi arts. A rite of passage made for Younglings was 'the Gathering' that involved harvesting kyber crystals for their lightsabers from the remote world of Ilum.

Leadership of the Jedi Order was held by the senior masters who sat on the Jedi Council.

An ancient and honoured tradition within the Order was the one held by the Jedi Temple Guard. These masked sentinels consisted of Knights chosen for the assignment where they reported to the Jedi who was the head of security. Their identity concealing masks and formal robes was the ultimate expression of emotional detachment that was required in the pursuit of this higher calling. Temple Guards wielded imposing lightsaber pikes that were thick double-bladed weapons which produced a rare distinctive yellow blade.

The Jedi Code said:

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Among their holdings was the Jedi Temple on Coruscant that was their headquarters.

The ancient world of Ilum was considered the most sacred site to the Jedi Order. A Jedi Temple was hidden beneath the frozen surface that existed since the dawn of their organization. By the legendary Crystal Caves, Jedi initiates underwent the rite of passage known as 'the Gathering' where younglings rusted their instincts to overcome inner obstacles and find unique kyber crystals that they attuned to their Force presence.

Technology

The Order supplied its members with A99 aquata breathers that were compact mouthpieces designed to supply its wearer with a breathable gas. They had advanced filters which allowed them to function underwater or in a vacuum, and in certain poisonous environments. They came in a number of variants to accommodate a variety of alien physiologies where they had compressed air tanks which supplied two hours of oxygen.

The traditional weapon of the Jedi was the lightsaber that was a device capable of generating a blade-like plasma powered by a Kyber crystal or other focusing item.

Kyber crystals were at the heard of every Jedi lightsaber with these being located on many worlds. These crystal were attuned to the Force and connected to the wielder on a deeply personal level. Thus, they were an extension of a Jedi's Force awareness. A Jedi was guided in their selection of the crystal by the Force where the vibration caused by the blade helped the welder center themselves and find balance in the Force. This allowed them to center themselves beyond the distraction of combat. Lightsaber crystals were colorless until first attuned and connected to a Jedi whereupon it took on different shades of color.

Jedi made use of Training Remotes to train them in the use of a lightsaber. These miniature droids were used in combat training where they floated in air on repulsors where they fired sting beams set at varying intensity levels. This allowed them to be used as teaching tools either by avoiding blaster shots or deflecting them with a lightsaber.

A relic linked closely with the organization were the Holocrons that were ancient repositories of knowledge and wisdom that could only be accessed by those skilled in using the Force. Jedi used them to record and preserve their teachings with them being used to create a record for future generations seeking to understand the greater mysteries of the Force.
