It was said that he was a figure with a great deal of power and influence in the magical world. Decades, he and his comrades including Zatara, Mister E and Tannarak came to establish themselves as leaders of the Brotherhood of the Cold Flame. At some point, he was noted to have had a daughter named Jaimini Sargent who when she reached adulthood came to take her fathers power for herself and his position within the cult. Powers and abilities
He derived his power from the Ruby of Life that was found over 4,000 years ago where it was placed in the Temple of Asyreth who was the goddess of the Tiparanes. It came to be lost when the temple was sacked by the savage Aryan hordes and it was passed on over the centuries until the modern age. Those that touched the stone and spoke the ancient formula gained unlimited power over man and beast as well as over the living and the dead. (All-American Comics v1 #26)
