Biography

Mace Windu was a male human Force-sensitive who came to be inducted into the Jedi Order in the era of the Old Republic. During that time, he came to rise through the ranks and attained the position of Master where he came to sit upon the Jedi Council. Around this time, a crisis emerged on the world of Naboo where the planet was being blockaded by the Trade Federation in an apparent trade dispute. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi had been dispatched to handle the matter but had to return with Queen Padme Amidala who intended to reveal the true nature of the blockade. Meanwhile, their journey back to Coruscant led to Master Qui-Gon finding a young Force-sensitive boy named Anakin Skywalker who he found on the desert planet of Tatooine. From the boy, he sensed a future potential and that the child could potentially be the Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force. Thus, he brought Anakin to the Jedi Council about the potential of taking the child as an apprentice. However, the Jedi Council refused as they believed he was too old for training and that there was too much fear in him. Afterwards, the crisis at Naboo ended when the Trade Federation was defeated but the true threat behind it was revealed when a Sith Lord named Darth Maul was present on the world where he killed Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi's apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi killed the Sith but Mace Windu believed that the ancient enemy of the Jedi had returned. Afterwards, the Jedi Council reluctantly allowed Master Kenobi to take on Anakin Skywalker as his Padawan as per his former master's request.

He along with other members of the Jedi Council were at the Chancellor's office when they heard word of an attempted assassination against Padmé Amidala who had just arrived on Coruscant. She had survived the encounter and was brought to the Chancellor who was happy to see her alive. Senator Amidala believed that Count Dooku was responsible though Master Windu noted that he was a former Jedi and not capable of such acts. Instead, the Jedi believed that the assassination attempt was the action of spice miners from the moon of Naboo.
