Biography

Agito Makishima (Japanese: 巻島 顎人, Hepburn: Makishima Agito) was the heir to his father's company in Japan. He was cared by the family's retainer Yohei Onuma who later brought his granddaughter Shizu Onuma after the death of her parents with Agito being close to her. The family business was later bankrupted by his uncle Genzo Makishima who owned the rival Max Pharmaceuticals. Geno's actions would lead to Agito's parents taking their own lives with him taking the young orphaned Agito as his ward by adopting him. However, Genzo Makishima showed no family ties with the boy and instead kept him around as an employee. In time, Max Pharmaceuticals was bought by the Chronos Corporation with both Genzo and Agito brought into the folds of the wider organization. Makishima would take Agito as his adopted son where he became one of the top students of his school and as he grow older he served as Genzo's personal assistant. Unknown to Genzo, Agito despised his adoptive father for him being responsible for killing his parents and sought to depose him. To ensure his survival, he made himself invaluable and through Genzo Makishima's links to Chronos he managed to learn of both the Zoanoids and the Guyver Units. As a result of his employ, he became privy to Chronos's many secrets and seemingly assisted his uncle in the research made at the Japan Branch. After learning of the Guyver Units, he decided to seek them out in his plot to get revenge against his uncle and usurp the power held by the Chronos Corporation. Agito would make contact with the Test Type Zoanoid that was undergoing optimization where he would turn the individual back into a human being in exchange for him smuggling the three Guyver Units that were recovered from Relic's Point. The Test Type managed to escape the Chronos facility where he made his way to the rendezvous but was pursued by Zoanoids. During the resultant battle, the Test Type committed suicide by detonating an explosive rather than return to Chronos. The explosion knocked the three Guyver Units across the forest landscape by Lake Narisawa where one was accidently discovered by Sho Fukamachi and the other by Chronos. It was the third Guyver Unit that was discovered by Agito who took it into his care and study as he saw it as a weapon to accomplish his goals of revenge. He would keep it a secret from the Chronos staff whereupon he would activate it becoming the third Guyver.

Chronos would become aware that the first Guyver Unit was activated by Sho Fukamachi and would seek to recover it leading to multiple operations being launched to capture him. Several of these attempts were foiled by Agito whilst in the guise of the third Guyver whilst keeping his identity a secret from both Fukamachi and Chronos. The repeated failures by Chronos led to Genzo Makishima being disgraced and Richard Guyot taking charge of the Japan Branch. As punishment for his failure, Genzo was transformed into a special type of Zoanoid designated Enzyme that was used to ambush Guyver I. Rather than risk himself, Agito would allow Sho to face the creature alone and despite calls for Guyver III he allowed Fukamachi to perish before Enzyme. The Enzyme version of Genzo Makishima was killed in the battle but Guyver I's control medal was taken for study by Chronos. During the period of study, the control medal regenerated Guyver I who went berserk within Chronos Japan Branch killing many Zoanoids in the process. During this distraction, Agito as Guyver III used this opportunity to destroy the Optimization Tanks creating more Enzymes designed for use against the remaining free Guyver. He also used this chance to plant explosives throughout the Japan Headquarters and made a confrontation with Richard Guyot where he referenced himself as 'Zeus'. When Guyot attempted to escape, Guyver III detonated the explosives seemingly destroying the helicopter and killing Richard Guyot as well as bringing down the Japan Headquarters.

Afterwards, he returned to his home when he was informed by his butler that he had a guest with Makishima being shocked to discover that it was Richard Guyot who had somehow survived the destruction of the Japanese branch headquarters. Guyot had a discussion with Agito about Sho Fukomachi where they discussed his drive with Makishima giving his insight. By this point, Guyot had summoned the Lost Numbers commandos from Relics Point to guard the residence. Agito used this opportunity to stage an assassination of Richard Guyot where he secretly turned into Guyver III and attacked the Chronos Commander. Guyver III was surprised to discover that Commander Guyot was no ordinary human as he was matching the Guyver in terms of strength. The battle came to a quick end when the Lost Numbers arrived forcing Guyver III to retreat and he quickly turned back into his human form where he pretended to check on the attack. Whilst in Guyot's company, Agito felt that the Commander suspected that Makishima was Guyver III but was confused on why he did not act on his suspicion. By this point, Guyot decided on a new offensive against Guyver I by targeting his loved ones. Agito was tasked with arranging the plan to abduct Fumio Fukomachi who was Sho Fukomachi's father with Makishima himself deployed to abduct the Segawa siblings who were Guyver I's friends. This caused his membership in Chronos to be exposed to the Segawa's who were taken to Relic's Point. By this point, Makishima believed that he had been transferred to Relic's Point in order to be Optimized into a Hyperzoanoid to join the corporation's elite. This act would have exposed his identity as Guyver III and thus he decided to act by freeing Fumio Fukomachi along with the Segawas. Guyver III killed numerous Zoanoid's that stood in his way and left a trail of destruction as he led the hostages to safety. They were travelling underground when Agito was ambushed by the elite Hyperzoanoid Team 5 with Guyver III being weakened from his earlier escape to battle them. It was then revealed that Guyot had determined that Agito was Guyver III based on earlier clues and suspicions.

They were only saved by the arrival of Guyver I who had found them where they escaped in a vehicle driven by Masaki Murakami but Sho's father was captured by Hyperzoanoid Team 5. On the run, Makishima whilst distrustful of Murakami decided to take the group to his safe house that was run by Yohei Onuma. They stayed at the site where he recovered from his wounds that were tended by Shizu. Agito later accompanied Sho Fukomachi as they headed towards Relic's Point to recover his father. They infiltrated the base where they managed to recover Fumio Fukomachi but were later ambushed by three members of Hyperzoanoid Team 5. Zx-Tole revealed that his other two comrades had been sent to attack the safe house. Makishima told Sho to take his father and go to the safe house to protect their friends whilst Agito fought Hyperzoanoid Team 5. Guyver III battled the Hyperzoanoid Zx-Tole who seemed suited to battling the Guyver. This forced Agito to change strategy where he burrowed underground to stage a sneak attack where he successfully killed Thancrus. Around this time, he sensed the apparent death of Sho whose brain was shattered at the hands of Fumio Fukomachi who had been forcibly transformed into Enzyme II. He later rendezvous with his comrades just as Guyver I's injuries had healed from his wounds. Makishima and his allies later departed the safe house that had been discovered by Chronos but were ambushed by three Enzyme II type Zoanoids. He was caught off guard fighting the Guyver killing Zoanoids leading to his near death whilst the trauma of his father's death prevented Sho Fukomachi from equipping his armor. They were only saved by Mr. Murakami who revealed that he was actually a prototype Zoalord who killed the Enzyme IIs. They later found a site to rest where Murakami explained the origins of humanity, Zoanoids and the Guyver. Mizuki in horror left into the woods with Sho looking to make sure she was safe which was when Richard Guyot came on the group accompanied by a pair of Enzyme IIs. The Enzyme Zoanoids battled Guyver III with Murakami fighting against Guyot.

Overview

Personality and attributes

Guyver III.

In appearance, Agito Makishima was a young Japanese male of medium build and muscular frame who had dark hair. Whilst his Guyver identity was secreted, he was referred to as Guyver III and coyly called himself Zeus to members of Chronos. This was because he believed that he would make himself a god in the new world.

Agito was shown as being a shrewd and calculating person who thought of how events would benefit him. It was shown that he almost never allowed sentiment to stand in his way.

As a child, he was filled with anger and hatred towards his adoptive father for driving his parents to their deaths. This resulted in him initially fixated on getting revenge against Genzo Makishima. In time, this changed as he believed that revenge was a pointless motivation and that the only thing that mattered was the attainment of true power.

To ensure his survival, Agito managed to mask his true feeling against his adoptive father and instead made himself out to be an invaluable as well as loyal assistant. His hatred of his father also extended to Genzo's leaders in the Chronos Corporation who he also began to target. On the surface though, he was regarded as a valuable member of the corporation and was even held as one of the Chronos Elite. After becoming a Guyver, he made sure that his identity was masked from Chronos who were initially unaware of the individual within the armor. As Guyver III, he would coyly call himself Zeus to members of Chronos thus hinting at his association with the organization due to the mythological meaning behind the name.

One of the closest people by his side was his family's retainer Yohei Onuma who had served Agito's parents. He had a granddaughter named Shizu Onuma who was Agito's age where the two were close friends. It was shown though that Shizu was in love with Agito and completely devoted to him as she only wanted to help him fulfil his goals no matter the cost. Her loyalty to him extended to willingly going through optimization to transform herself into a Proto-Zoalord.

Though an ally of Fukamachi, he was shown to use Sho to bear the brunt of Chronos's attacks to recover the first Guyver Unit allowing Agito to observe their actions. This allowed him to assess the danger posed by the Zoanoid Enzyme that was responsible for initially killing Guyver I. It also allowed him to observe capabilities of the Guyver Unit that he was not aware of such as the ability to regenerate the host body so long as the control medal was operational. Furthermore, he freed Fumio Fukamachi and the Segawa's so that Sho would feel thankful to Makishima who intended to manipulate Guyver I.

Powers and abilities

Originally, Agito was an ordinary human being though one who had trained his body to the best of human ability. After finding the Guyver Unit, he intentionally bonded himself to the living organism that encased him in a bio-booster armour that he could equip or unequip at will. When transforming, Agito tended to shout the words Bio-Boost thus transforming him into his Guyver III form. He demonstrated a much greater knowledge of the Guyver Unit capabilities initially that he used when he operated in secret as Guyver III. This included teaching some of these to Sho such as the gravity control device on the waist of the armor that allowed for flight. The bio-booster armor possessed incredible regenerative abilities that allowed him to heal from injuries and he came to see the potential for immortality after seeing it resurrect Sho Fukamachi.

Upon witnessing the Guyver Gigantic, he came to learn that he could also call on the armor to him. However, the single set of armour meant that he and Sho had a battle of wills over who could equip it.

After Chronos's takeover of the world, he came to form a band of resistance fighters that he named Zeus's Thunderbolts (Zeus No Ikazuchi).
