Biography
Salamandra was a female dragon-like being of unknown origins who had existed in the world. Around 20 years ago, she had met Bentley Wittman where the two married though this was not out of love but mutual self-interest. Sometime after their wedding, Salamandra had become pregnant though the marriage was not consummated by Whittman who instead used machines to artificially inseminate her as he wanted to create a superpowered offspring. At first, Salamandra intended to abort the child but the Wizard captured as well as sedated her thus forcing her to give birth. Prior to the child's birth, Wittman had determined that the offspring was an ordinary human and thus he deemed his experiment a failure. This led to him abandoning both Salamandra and his daughter named Cole without ever seeking them out. (Fantastic Four v1 #515)
She was contacted by the Wizard and asked to aid him as a new member of the Frightful Four. (Fantastic our v1 #514)

Personality and attributes
She was also known as the Dragon's Daughter due to her dragonic form. (Fantastic our v1 #516) It was said that her blue flames always indicated the arrival of her as the Fire Maiden. (Fantastic our v1 #514)
She tended to speak in the third person where she referred to herself as 'this one'. (Fantastic Four v1 #515)
Her nature as a dragon was said to lead to her demanding payment in the form of gems, jewellery and treasures. (Fantastic our v1 #516)
Salamandra was said to had hated the Wizard and considered him an ill-chosen lover due to his actions on her. (Fantastic Four v1 #515)
She had a daughter with the Wizard who took the name Cole though Salamandra only cared for her. Initially, Salamandra did not desire a child but was forced to give birth by the Wizard but in time she did care for her offspring. She once said that anyone who wished to court her daughter had to ask Salamandra's permission first. (Fantastic Four v1 #515)
Powers and abilities
She was knowledgeable enough in pressure points and skilled enough to exploit them in close-quarter fighting. This was shown when through a strike she was able to leave Mr. Fantastic's arm in paralysed for a time. (Fantastic Four v1 #515)
Salamandra could generate powerful flames that manifested as blue fires. (Fantastic Four v1 #515) When needed, she could transform herself into a red-skinned bipedal dragonic form that could breath the blue flames from her mouth. In this form, she could use her tail in order to ensnare a foe and grab them. (Fantastic our v1 #516)
