Category:Oz
Fantasy world created by L. Frank Baum, beginning with the 1900 book The Wizard of Oz, and continuing through many more books by Baum and other authors, ending with The Merry-Go-Round of Oz by Eloise Jarvis McGraw and Lauren McGraw Wagner. Assorted short stories by Baum and others have also been written. Of these, the original 14 books by Baum are the ones considered most official, with the others more questionable. Numerous stage plays, films, animated series, and comic books have been based on the Oz universe, most notably the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, 1978's The Wiz, 1985's darker Return to Oz and the 2013 prequel Oz: The Great and Powerful.

An reference to Oz's tie to Kansas appears in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Sherlock Holmes visited Oz in the pastiche "Sherlock Holmes in Oz", connecting Oz to Holmes' universe- both of these connections tie Oz to the Wold Newton Universe. Oz also appears in The Number of the Beast as one of the universes in the World-as-Myth continuum. The land of Oz also exists (in a form, at least) as an alternate timeline on Quantum 4 in the GURPS Infinite Worlds setting.
