Video games

  • In Star Trek: Shattered Universe, an alternate version of the Doomsday Machine appeared in the level "From Hell's Heart". It was shown to exist in the Mirror Universe where it was on path to destroy the Klingon homeworld.

Novels

  • In Star Trek: The Next Generation: Vendetta, the Doomsday Machine appeared in the setting of the 1991 non-canon novel written by Peter David and published by Pocket Books. It was said to be a weapon of an ancient race who created it as a last resort against the Borg. It was explained that the one encountered by the original U.S.S. Enterprise was an an automated prototype sent on a course that would have eventually carried it to Borg space until it was stopped. The planet killer was designed to possess an indestructible neutronium hull and armed with a deadly antiproton beam where it was intended to use assimilated worlds as fuel for itself. The perfected weapon was kept at a shipyard where it was meant to be piloted by a living being who was assisted by the mentally uploaded essences of the planet killer's creators.

Comics

  • In Star Trek: Voyager - Planet Killer, the planet killer appeared in the setting of the comic published by Wildstorm Comics. It was revealed that the machine was the creation of an extinct species designated by the Borg as Species 4672.
