Biography
Solas was a male member of the ancient race of Elves that once ruled the lands of Thedas. During the Ancient Age, he along with a number of Elven mages were powerful figures that had attained god-like status due to their power. This group came to be known as the Evanuris were immortal due to their ties to the Fade where at first they were regarded as kings and eventually as gods. In time, the majority of his kin became tyrannical rulers with Solas leading a rebellion against them where he freed the slaves along with fighting back against the propaganda that he along with his kin were gods. This led to the Evanuris mockingly giving Solas the name of Fen'Harel (The Dread Wolf) and they started to call him a malicious trickster. In time, his comrades actions came to threaten the world itself and they were responsible for slaying one of their own namely Mythal. This resulted in Solas acting out to finally stop them where he embarked on a desperate plan to punish the Evanuris by using his Foci' to augment his powers whereupon he created the Veil which separated the Fade from the physical world. This act sealed away the Evanuris where they were to suffer an eternity of torment for their vile actions though the great act drained too much of Solas's power causing him to enter into the long sleep of the Uthenera.
He came to claim that he grew up in a small village and spent most of his life wandering the wilderness.
Once the Breach was formed, Solas made his way to the fledgling Inquisition in order to approach their leadership to offer his aid in stopping the calamity. He was present fighting demons alongside Varic Tethras along with the few Inquisition personnel present at the scene. He then claimed that he could help the sole survivor of the Divine Conclave's destruction who had a suspicious mark on their hand that was tied to the Breach. Solas stated that he could not stand idly by when his knowledge of the arcane stood in the way between salvation and complete destruction. This saw him being granted permission to study the survivor and one of the smaller rifts i order to find a means of sealing the Breach.
Overview
Personality and attributes
He was mockingly given the name of Fen'Harel (The Dread Wolf) by the other Evanuris but Solas came to use this name with pride.
Solas was shown to sometimes speak in poetic meter and approved of others that replied in kind.
Though of the Elvhen race, he did not recognize himself as a Dalish or a city elf.
He had said that he was no like Corypheus as he did not take enjoyment from his actions but instead did it out of necessity as he felt that the return of his people meant that mankind had to end.
Powers and abilities
The Circle of Magi came to consider him a 'hedge mage' but Solas had a number of unique magical tricks of his own.
He was shown to be capable of a lucid form of dreaming that allowed him to experience the hidden history of areas where the Veil was thin.
It was through his unique knowledge of the Fade that allowed him to manipulate rifts in the Veil.
Such was his power that he could casually cast a spell that petrified an enemy thus turning them to stone.

- Solas was created by BioWare where he was voiced by actor Gareth David-Lloyd and featured in the setting of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
- In an Interview on Youtube, Weekes used Harry Potter as a metaphor]] to how Solas perceived himself and that, ""this luckless, unfortunate person who by an unpleasant destiny and the simple fact that no one else has the ability to do it, that it has to be him and that someone else would get it wrong".
