  • Real World: February 14. Former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and 15 others are killed in a car bomb explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
  • Real World: March 11. The Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005, after being passed by Parliament, becomes law by royal assent.
  • Real World: March 28. An 8.7-magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of Sumatra. It is the second largest earthquake since 1965.
  • Real World: April 26. In the face of protests sparked by the death of Rafik Hariri, Syrian forces complete their withdrawal from Lebanon.
  • Real World: May 10. In Tbilisi, Georgia, an assassination attempt on U.S. President George W. Bush fails.
