Biography

Origin

Andrea Rojas was a Mexican national where she was the daughter of Bernardo Rojas who was a former political leader in Central America who later took on a job as a researcher in 'prehispanic cultures' at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de Mexico. (Superman Annual v2 #12)

One day, a mysterious young girl had been appearing around Mexico City leaving a trail of destruction in her wake. This led to Acrata reluctantly deciding to ally with two other heroes that operated in the region. These included the armor wearing Iman and the masked El Muerto. Despite their efforts though, they were unable to apprehend this girl who continued her acts of destruction. She later targeted the Mexico W.T.C. where the three heroes went about trying to save the lives of innocent people in the building. At this time, Superman intervened but was knocked back by the mystical energy empowering the young girl. Acrata then used her powers to teleport the heroes including Superman away from the scene in order to re-group and for the Man of Steel to recover. After Superman regained consciousness, the heroes examined what clues they had gathered with Iman's armor recording a medallion being worn by the mysterious girl. Acrata managed to identity it as being a symbol of the Ometeotl who was the god of the near and close. She did not reveal what else she knew as she did not trust Superman and decided to act alone with her teleporting away from the scene. Andrea then decided to consult with her father about the legends surrounding Ometeotl. She came to track the little girl to the Zocalo to a warehouse belonging to the crime lord Duran. Acrata freed the girl but guards arrived at the scene who opened fire but Superman arrived just in time to deflect the shots. Andrea then revealed that she believed that the little girl was a conduit for the Earth's energy and was being controlled through the medallion by Duran. Duran was revealed to had been an apprentice to an old Superman foe called Firewolf who wielded magic and with this power he was able to defeat the Man of Steel. Similarly, Acrata along with Iman and El Muerto was similarly captured where they were kept locked up. With the heroes seemingly neutralised, Duran intended to unleash the negative energy of Ometeotl into the world in order to destroy mankind for their actions that damaged the planet. However, Acrata along with her allies managed to free themselves where they looked to stop Duran. Translating the words on the medallion, Andrea determined that the negative energy embodied by the young girl could be countered by the positive energy prophecised to be held by a visitor from the stars. Thus, Superman channeled the energy where it was used to destroy the medallion of Ometeotl thus ending the threat posed to the world. (Superman Annual v2 #12)

Acrata was one of many female heroes invited to join the Birds of Prey by Oracle though Andrea had seeminfly refused the offer. (Birds of Prey v1 #100

She came to be one of many superbeings that were kidnapped by Eclipso and was brought under his mental control as part of a plan to build an army of shadow-wielding metahumans. (Justice League of America v2 #54)
