U.S. Animated, Japan

Originally designated A3, he was the rebel Autobots' leader against the Quintessons, and developed a device to neutralize the Quintessons' Dark Guardian robots. After briefly being plucked from his time to the year 2006, he was returned and led his forces to victory.

After the First Cybertronian War ended, he took the name Alpha Trion, and became caretaker to many of the most ancient artifacts and secrets of the Transformer race, such as the Key to Vector Sigma. He lived as a repair robot through the Second Cybertronian War fought between the Autobots and Decepticons (Destrons), repairing Autobot casualties.

As the Third Cybertronian War began to rage, Trion took the Autobot Matrix of Leadership (Cybertron Matrix of Leadership) from the current Autobot leader when Megatron slew him. Later, he rebuilt two Autobots- Orion Pax and Ariel- into the warrior robots Optimus Prime (Convoy) and Elita-One. Presumably, he passed the Matrix to Prime at this point.

When Optimus Prime and his forces from Iacon disappeared, and the tide of battle on Cybertron turned against the Autobots, Trion went underground. By Earth year 1985, he had become a secret advisor to Elita-One's group of female Autobot rebels. In that year, Shockwave and a contingent of Megatron's Decepticons attempted to track him down, but were foiled by Optimus Prime, Elita-One, and their respective teams.

Later, Megatron located Trion, and took the Key to Vector Sigma, using the supercomputer to give life to his Stunticons. Optimus, Trion, and Prime's Autobot contingent countered this by building the Aerialbots. However, they could not activate Vector Sigma without the Key. Alpha Trion, however, solved that problem by interfacing himself with Sigma; his body was slain, but his mind was now one with the computer.

In 2006 (2010), it was discovered by Optimus Prime that a version of Alpha Trion (perhaps his spark) existed within the Matrix, before its collective energies were dispersed in ending the Hate Plague.

U.S. Animated

Alpha Trion's mind lived on in Vector Sigma, and he collaborated with Optimus Prime in a Machiavellian scheme to revitalize Cybertron, which eventually worked.

Japan

Alpha Trion's ghost helped Optimus Prime carry out his truly final action, to stabilize Vector Sigma and save Seibertron from destruction.

Dreamwave

A legendary figure, the most ancient of Transformers, who opposed the policies of the Council of Ancients regarding the Matrix (they chose to downplay its spiritual importance). He split from that group, becoming the caretaker of Vector Sigma. Trion held that position for many years into the Autobots-Decepticon conflict. Alpha Trion was ultimately captured by Shockwave, who extracted the information he needed from Trion to access Vector Sigma.
