History
Whilst retired, Pym was contracted by S.H.I.E.L.D. to develop a new variation of the Ant-Man Suit so that an agent would become the latest version of Ant-Man. A number of candidates were selected to be tested for the position where on missions they would be shrunken to microscopic size and sent behind enemy lines. During this time, Hank was onboard the Helicarrier as he began working on the suit and testing its capabilities. (Irredeemable Ant-Man v1 #1)
Newly recruited agents Eric O'Grady and Chris McCarthy were selected to guard Pym's laboratory. However, when Hank was exiting, O'Grady panicked and knocked him out whereupon the two agents examined the laboratory. McCarthy ended up putting on the Ant-Man Armor and accidently shrunk himself where he struggled to restore himself back to normal. He managed to do so when supervillains began attacking the carrier and Chris managed to meet with his friend O'Grady. During the fire fight, O'Grady was desperate to save himself and pushed McCarthy to the side where Chris got killed from a stray blast that struck him in the head. In desperation to save himself again from imminent death, Eric took the Ant-Man Armor from his dead friends corpse and shrunk himself to avoid the resultant crash of the Helicarrier. In the aftermath, he became a rogue agent where he continued to wear the Ant-Man Armor and was hunted by S.H.I.E.L.D. (Irredeemable Ant-Man v1 #2)
Overview
Through the cybernetic helmet, the wearer utilised electronic-wave commands to control insects such as ants. (Tales to Astonish v1 #44)
The helmet of Pym's first suit contained a laboratory that could be accessed by a person shrinking into the chamber. This helmet-lab served as one of a series of facilities that Hank Pym had created with the one in the helmet serving as a secondary back-up that held numerous items in storage. (Ant-Man Annual v2 #1)
On the S.H.I.E.L.D. design version, the Ant-Man Armor's mechanical legs had boosters that could be used for flight and as a cutting torch. (Irredeemable Ant-Man v1 #1)

- In The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Ant-Man Suit was developed and worn initially by Hank Pym who operated as Ant-Man that served on the Avengers. Afterwards, he decided to quit being a superhero and in the episode "To Steal an Ant-Man", it was shown that thief Scott Lang in an effort to save his sick daughter Cassandra Lang went into Pym's laboratory to steal the Ant-Man Suit. Lang was blackmailed by his old partner William Cross who kept Cassandra hostage forcing him to perform robberies and give the stolen money to Cross. Upon learning of the theft of the suit, Pym hired Luke Cage and Iron Fist to help him recover it. The three later aided Scott Lang in defeating Cross whereupon they manage to save Cassie Lang. In the aftermath, Scott intended to surrender himself to custody but Pym noted that he operated as a good hero and gave Lang the Ant-Man Suit allowing him to operate as the new Ant-Man.

- In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Ant-Man Suit made a number of appearances in the shared continuity setting.
- In Ant-Man, the suit featured in the movie where it became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was created by Dr. Hank Pym following his discovery of Pym Particles that allowed a user to shrink. A key element of the suit was the regulator situated on the belt that controlled the shrinking ability but a limiter was present to prevent the user to shrink on a subatomic level where they would become lost in the quantum realm. Pym used the suit to operate as a government superhero agent named the Ant-Man and created a second winged suit for his wife Janet Van Dyne. The pair operated as government agents in the 1980's until a Communist nation launched a missile towards New York. On the missile, both Hank and Pym were present in a shrunken state where they were attempting to defuse it. During the battle, Hank's regulator got damaged preventing him from shrinking even further to disable the rocket. This saw Janet sacrifice her life by shrinking further where she disabled the missile but became lost in the quantum realm. The tragedy combined with S.H.I.E.L.D. attempting to replicate the Pym Particle saw Hank Pym retiring from being a government hero. He had the Ant-Man Suit stored in a vault at his home residence and instead opened a business venture in the form of a research firm known as Pym Technologies. After being ousted by his protégé Cross, Hank learn that Darren was attempting to replicate the Pym Particle and weaponise it in the form of the Yellowjacket Suit.
- In Captain America: Civil War, the Ant-Man Suit returned in the live-action film with it being worn by Scott Lang. The helmet of the suit had been altered and changed by this point. Lang used it as he aligned in Steve Rogers forces that opposed the Superhuman Registration Act. During the battle against Tony Starks forces, Lang used the suit in the battle and reverses it's effects to turn him into a giant to give his side an advantage.
Video games
- In Marvel: Avengers Alliance, the Ant-Man suit appeared in the setting of the Facebook video game. In "Special Operations - Ant-Man", it was created by Hank Pym with it being built around the Pym Particles. He created two such suits at his research lab that were stolen by two unrelated attacks with one being taken by Scott Lang leading to him becoming Ant-Man.
- In Marvel: Future Fight, the Ant-Man Suit was part of the equipment gear of Ant-Man Scott Lang that could be upgraded.
