History

Origin

Darkseid, Lord of Apokolips in Superman: Man of Steel v1 #115.

Apokolips was a dark world created following the demise of the Old Gods and the creation of the cosmos. It was held as being the dark sister planet of New Genesis with both being populated by a divine race of New Gods. (New Gods v1 #1) Both it and New Genesis were created 4,800,000,000 years ago following the Ragnarok where Apokolips formed from the remnant of GodWorld. (New Gods Secret Files and Origins v1 #1) During the time of the four ages, it was ruled over by the Four Horsemen of Apokolips. (52 v1 #38)

Millennia ago, the Black Diamond was mined on Apokolips where Darkseid had cut and shaped it into the Heart of Darkness thus creating Eclipso. (Countdown to Mystery v1 #1)

Around, 1,346.72 yeas ago, Apokolips was visited by one of the Manhunters with the unit dispatched by the Guardians of the Universe to bring order to the various sectors of space in the universe. The machine managed to arrive in the uncharted region of space where it queried the inhabitants of the world about its name. It was then attacked by Apokoliptian guards who opposed intruders but they were defeated by the Manhunter. However, the slaves turned on the machine in the name of their master Darkseid and destroyed the android. Thus, the dark world remained unexplored to the Guardians of Oa and around 9945.09 years ago they dispatched one of their new Green Lantern Corpsmen named Kendotha Kr'nek to investigate the planet only for them to be similarly slain. (Green Lantern 80-Page Giant v1 #3)

During this time, Brother Eye succeeded in assimilating Apokolips itself that becomes its new body. (Countdown to Final Crisis v1 #10)
