Their battle provided the distraction to allow Wally West to escape the area. (Flash v2 #186) This allowed the Flash to cure himself and also to defeat the Thinker though the Rogues continued their attack. This allowed [[Girder (DC)|Girder]] to capture the speedster whereupon the Blacksmith had the Rogues regroup whilst the Network was deployed in numbers to take over Keystone City. Amunet then gave the word for Girder to kill the Flash thus removing any opposition to the Blacksmith's operations in the city. (Flash v2 #187) However, Magenta turned against them to save Wally West with the Rogues having to take down the traitor. Despite their advantage, Kenyon came to rally the people of Keystone to fight the Network. This saw her organisation being dismantled and forced Amunet to go on the run where she fled to the Van Buren Bridge. The Flash pursued her there where in desperation she attempted to destroy the bridge but the act was undone by Wally West who repaired it with his super-speed. He then knocked her off the bridge onto a waste barge allowing her to be captured. Biography
Origin
Amunet Black was a dark haired female human who was born in the modern age.
Years ago, she adopted the identity of the Blacksmith where she formed an underground black market called the Network in Central City and Keystone City. It specialised in stolen property that was acquired by the Rogues where Black used her global connections to make easy sales. Around this time, Goldface first moved to Central City where he met the Blacksmith with the two embarking on a romance. They married quickly but they also divorced shortly afterwards with Kenyon attempting to get her to leave the criminal life behind but she refused. Before he left, Amunet stole some of Goldface's elixir with the help of the Rogues which mutated her as well as gave her superhuman abilities. She then used some forms of hypnotism to hide the existence of the Network from the authorities by erasing their existence from any criminal that tried to reform. (Flash v2 #186)

Second, she and her rogues had Flash's allies removed or incapacitated. Mirror Master framed Piper for the murder of his parents. Plunder took out Chunk, shot his mirror image, Detective Jared Morillo, and assumed his identity. Then, Mirror Master kidnapped Cyborg and police officer Fred Chyre, trapping them in a mirror universe along with all the other cops of Keystone City. The Rogues then removed the speedsters by giving Jesse Quick's company financial trouble and then sent Jay Garrick to a hospital in Denver when his wife got sick.
Finally, Murmur and Mirror Master attacked radio stations and reprogrammed their antennas to broadcast a mirror shield around the twin cities to prevent anyone from coming in or getting out.
After everything had been put into place, Blacksmith and her rogues launched their takeover and began by attacking the Flash. They attacked hard and fast, which left Flash tired and badly injured, but just as they were about to finish him off, they were stopped by the Thinker, who wanted to use the Flash's brain to upload information. After the Thinker was defeated, Blacksmith and the rogues resumed their plan and attacked Flash and Goldface. They successfully trounced Flash while Goldface escaped. During the fight, Blacksmith used her power to transform her body into ebony metal, while villains in the Network began to loot and pillage the two cities. Luckily, Goldface lead the people of the twin cities against the Network and Flash managed to defeat the Weather Wizard, Mirror Master, and Trickster II, before they escaped when Captain Cold froze the ground and Mirror Master used it to retreat. With her rogues defeated, she tried a desperate attack by collapsing the bridge that connects Keystone City and Central City. The Flash quickly managed to rebuild the bridge and finally defeat Blacksmith by stranding her on a barge in the middle of the river (she could not enter the water for fear of rusting her metal skin). With her Network discontinued, she was sent to Iron Heights, where she was severely wounded by the escaping Gorilla Grodd. Although she survived her injuries, Blacksmith has not been seen since that incident, although she did show up for "Digger" Harkness' funeral.

Powers and abilities
Originally, Amunet Black was an ordinary human being until she used the special elixir used by her ex-husband Goldface. Using it transformed her into a Metahuman giving her the ability to merge flesh and metal with a touch. (Flash v2 #186) Thus, she was able to fuse animate and inanimate objects together. (Flash v2 #183) The Blacksmith equally could dissolve the bonds between such substances. (Flash v2 #186) Black could also fuse metal to her body thus making her stronger and more endurable. This created an ebony compound that was a perfect combination of flesh and metal. (Flash v2 #188)
Her powers allowed her a unique perception as she could sense any fusion between organic and inorganic substances. (Flash v2 #186)
Amunet controlled the Network that was a criminal black market that operated within Central City and Keystone City. (Flash v2 #183) It was noted for being a lucrative business that was able to move stolen items and run any goods that included alien weapons from invasions to priceless art. As the Network grew, so too did the Twin Cities economy with it said that government leaders turning a blind eye to their activities as it brought money in during rough economic times. (Flash v2 #186)
