Origin

Nathan Christopher Charles Summers

During one of his missions, he encountered a Canaanite firing squad where he killed most of its members with only a single survivor by the name of D'Von Kray who swore revenge where he went through alterations to become more powerful to fight Cable. (Wolverine/Cable: Guts and Glory v1 #1)

Notes

• Nathan Summers was created by Chris Claremont and Rick Leonardi where he made his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men v1 #201 (January, 1986).
• The character of Cable was created by Louise Simonson and Rob Liefeld where he debuted in New Mutants v1 #87 (March, 1990).

Alternate Versions

• In the Age of Apocalypse, an alternate version of Nathan Summers was born in a reality designated as Earth-295 with this one being known as Nate Grey.
• In Major X v1 #1 (2019), an alternate version of Nathan Summers was shown to had inhabit a reality known as the X-Istence. This world was formed in the aftermath of the Mutant Wars where the scattered survivors of Mutants gathered to form a sanctuary from where they formed a new golden age of peace. During this time, Cable had a son named Alexander Nathaniel Summers who by adulthood became an operative for X-Istence known as Major X. Major X travelled to the mainstream Earth after his world collapsed and he sought to find the cause of destruction so he could restore his realm.

Television

• In X-Men, Cable appeared in the animated television series starting from the episode "Slave Island" where he was voiced by actor Lawrence Bayne and by actor Tesshō Genda in the Japanese dub.

Films

• In Deadpool 2, Cable appeared in the live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Josh Brolin. He was shown as being a cyborg inhabitant of the future where he had a wife and a daughter named Hope. During this time, he encountered the supervillain Firefist who was a pyrokinetic that murdered people. One day, Firefist attacked Cable's home and burnt his wife along with his daughter hope leaving their scorched remains behind. This led to Cable using a time travel device to go back in time to the modern day to kill the young Firefist when he was Rusty Collins before his first murder. Upon arriving, he prepared himself and struck at the Mutant prison called the Ice Box but was stopped from killing the boy by Deadpool. After being thwarted, he targeted Wade's associate Weasel to find the location of a convoy that was transporting Rusty to a new facility. He was confronted by Deadpool and Domino who attempted to stop him where during this time Collins freed the Juggernaut from his prison cell. Collins departed alongside the Juggernaut to get his revenge with Cable deciding that he could not handle the powerful supervillain alone thus forcing him to team up with Deadpool. Though Cable wanted to kill the boy, Deadpool convinced him to save Rusty by preventing him from murdering his headmaster which was the act that led to his future incarnation as Firefist. Initially, the attempt failed and Cable shot a bullet at Rusty to kill him but it was intercepted by Deadpool who had used a power dampener to remove his abilities thus making the shot fatal. The act turned Rusty away from his future self as he saw Deadpool saving him with this leading to a changed future where Cable's wife along with their daughter being alive. Cable then used his time travel machine to go back to his earlier self and place a lead bottle cap on Deadpool's chest where the bullet would hit thus saving his life. He was then determined to stay in the modern day and ensure everything was alright before finding a way back to the future.

• In Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, Cable appeared in the video game as an NPC where he was voiced by actor Keith Ferguson.
• In Marvel: Avengers Alliance, Cable appeared as a character that could be unlocked in the Facebook video game.
• In Deadpool, Cable appeared as a supporting character in the video game setting where he was voiced by actor Fred Tatasciore.
• In Marvel Heroes, Cable appeared as a playable character in the MMORPG video game where he was voiced by actor James M. Connor.
• In Marvel: Future Fight, Cable appeared as a playable character in the iOS video game.
