Notes

  • Carol Danvers was created by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan where she made her first appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes v1 #13 (March 1968).
  • She debuted as Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel v1 #1 (January 1977) then as Binary Uncanny X-Men v1 #164 (December 1982) and as Captain Marvel in Avenging Spider-Man v1 #9 (September 2012).

Alternate Versions

  • In Civil War: House of M v1 #5 (2009), an alternate version of Carol Danvers was shown to inhabit the House of M in the world designated as Earth-58163. She was shown as a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent for years who gained her powers but hid them from the world. During the Mutant-Human War, she fought alongside her fellow agents but did not reveal her powers as she feared the reaction of other humans. The fear of this prejudice led to her becoming a spy for Magneto who granted her the honorary status of being a Mutant hero after the war ended and he came to rule the world. This led to him naming her Captain Marvel who became a champion to both Mutants and Humans in the world where she became very popular despite lacking the X-Gene.
