Afterwards, she continued her service to Earthrealm with this being acknowledged by her promotion to the rank o Commander. The ceremony was commemorated with a sparring match between her and her mother with Cassie winning the fight against General Blade. It was then that they were informed of a growing threat from the Netherrealm as Revenant Empress Kitana and Liu Kang intended to attack Earth once again. A strategy was devised where a team from the Special Forces would be dispatched into the Netherrealm to destroy the '''Cathedral of Shinnok''' that was the source of the enemy's power. Raiden teleported the team to the Netherrealm where he kept the enemy focused on him and distracted in the process whilst the Special Forces team planted bombs on the Cathedral. They were eventually discovered with Cassie forced to battle several of the Revenants until Liu Kang arrived where he caused a cave-in in the underground passages. This buried several Special Forces members including Sonya Blade who ordered her troops to depart as she activated the bomb. Cassie desperately attempted to save her mother but was forced to flee as the Cathedral was destroyed. Cassandra Carlton Cage was the daughter of Sonya Blade and her husband Johnny Cage after the pair got married in the time following the defeat of Shao Kahn. At some point, the two got divorced due to Sonya's commitment to her work in the military Special Forces which had put a strain on her marriage. Despite that, she maintained a relationship with Cage as their daughter Cassie grew up with her entering into a life in the military and gained a close friend in Jacqui Briggs. In this time, she served as a protector of Earthrealm that responded to extradimensional incursions from other realms.

Afterwards, she continued her service to Earthrealm with this being acknowledged by her promotion to the rank o Commander. The ceremony was commemorated with a sparring match between her and her mother with Cassie winning the fight against General Blade.
