Cerberus was a male being that existed in the realm of Hades who served the Olympian god of the dead Pluto. (Thor v1 #130)

It was said that his name was spoken throughout the universe. Cerberus had said that all those that dwelt below in the netherworld cringed in fear before his might. (Thor v1 #130)

It was said that Cerberus was created to be many guardians and if in a form that was ill-equipped for a battle then he could adopt another one. (Champions v1 #1)

Notes

  • Cerberus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in Thor v1 #130 (July, 1966).
  • The character was adapted from the figure from Greek mythology.

In other media

Television

  • In Avengers Assemble, Cerberus appeared in his dog-form only in the animated television series fourth season Secret Wars in the episode "Incredible Hercules". He was dispatched by Ares to capture Hercules who had taken the Mace of War that served as a key to Tartarus. The three headed beast battled the Avengers when Hercules arrived to defeat the creature who returned back to his master. He was then accompanied by Ares himself where Cerberus captured Hercules and brought him back to Olympus.
