The Dark Guardians were robots used by the Quintessons to enforce their will upon their increasingly rebellious Transformer slaves. The deactivation of the Dark Guardians by A3- later Alpha Trion- was a major turning point in the First Cybertronian War. Most Dark Guardians were reprogrammed into the Guardian Robots.
