Biography

Death was a male member of the Nephilim race who were the oldest and most powerful beings in the Universe after the time of Creation. During the earliest years of existence, it was decided that Mankind was to be given the prize of Eden. However, Absalom who led the Nephilim resented this decision and led his armies against Heaven as well as Hell in order to claim it for himself. For his actions, the Charred Council condemned the Nephilim to destruction but four of their race were granted a reprieve under the condition that they aid in the Council's victory over their kin. These Nephilim thus became the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse with Death being their leader where they slaughtered their people. Death came to hold the greatest burden of guilt for the extinction of race where he came to don the mask that represented his role as executioner of his brethren which had not removed since that time. The souls of the Nephilim came to be gathered in a green amulet that Death wore around his neck where the Charred Council ordered its destruction but he came to disobey them. Instead, he decided to give the amulet to the Crowfather who was to keep it safe and had given Death the raven Dust to be his companion.

Later on, War came to be accused by the Charred Council of prematurely triggering the Apocalypse leading to them imprisoning him. Upon learning this, Death could not believe his brother was capable of such an act as he always found him to be the most honorable of their ranks. Thus, he decided to find a way of saving his younger kinsman where he came to secretly travel to the icy realm known as the Veil in search of the Crowfather who was a keeper of secrets. He wanted to consult the Old One on finding a way to resurrect the human race and thus erase his brother's supposed crime. After fighting through undead icy skeletons, he came to find the Crowfather who seemed to be on the edge of madness and refused to aid Death. However, he came to relent where he told the Horseman that what he was seeking could be found in the Tree of Life with him opening a portal to it. However, he closed it as he demanded Death to take back the amulet that was given to him and to destroy it as he claimed that the vengeful souls within had been tormenting him. Death refused and instead demanded that the Crowfather re-open the portal but the Old One had no intention to do so as long as he was alive. He then took the form of War whereupon he battled against Death but was defeated by the Horseman. This caused the amulet to fall free from the Crowfather's neck which shattered and embedded in Death's right arm. The Nephilim was rendered unconscious whilst the Crowfather died as his energies collapsed into a vortex hat consumed Death.

He then awoke to find himself in the Forge Lands that was the home of the Makers where he encountered the Elder Eideard. Death then questioned him about the Tree of Life with the Maker informing him that his world faced destruction at the hands of the Corruption. This dark substance was looking to destroy the Tree of Life along with his people. They were then interrupted by a corrupted construct which the Horseman destroyed with Eideard congratulating him though warned that the Corruption could not be destroyed by a mere blade. he Maker then told Death hat the Fire of the Mountain would need to be restored if Death wanted to proceed on his quest and told him to seek out Alya. Death then revealed that he intended to use the power of the Tree of Life to resurrect humanity which would help clear his brother War of his crimes.

Overview

Personality and attributes

He came to wear his iconic mask that represented his role as executioner on the day he slaughtered his brethren and had not removed it since that day.

According to him, all that lived knew his name whilst all those who opposed me shall know Death.

Among the Horsemen, he bore the greatest burden of guilt for the near extinction of his race.

On his shoulder sat a crow named Dust who operated as a guide for him.

Powers and abilities

As one of the Nephilim, he was among the most powerful beings in the Universe.

With his Death Grip, he formed a ghostly hand that could be used to pull objects towards him or pull himself to something. Meanwhile, his Voidwalker power allowed him to create portals to certain surfaces. Death was later able to travel through time after developing this power into becoming a Phasewalker.

The height of his power was him being able to manifest his Reaper Form whereupon he transformed into a large hooded being with skeletal wings and wielding a massive scythe. This state could only be maintained for brief periods at a time though he was able to manifest a smaller ghostly transparent incarnation of it that was covered in smoke during certain moments.

His signature weapon was Harvester that was an enormous scythe that was taller than the wielder. It was described as being a hideous thing that was jagged and crafted like the wing of a great beast. Harvester was a shapeshifting weapon where it could take on a number of forms ranging from a single scythe form, dual scythes, gauntlets, hammers and so on. Death was mentally linked to the scythe that he could telepathically summon to his hand.
