Biography

Johann Fennhoff

He later came to ally with the Red Skull and came to occupy the mansion known as Skull-House. Whilst there, he attempted to coerce Captain America into committing suicide by using holograms to simulate ghosts tormenting him. (Captain America v1 #326)

Doctor Faustus was later chosen to join the ranks of the new Hydra High Council. (Captain America: Steve Rogers v1 #14)

  • Doctor Faustus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where he made his first appearance in Captain America v1 #107 (November, 1968).

Television

  • In Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Doctor Faustus appeared as an antagonist in the animated television series in the episode "Pawns of the Kingpin" where he was voiced by actor Dennis Marks. He was employed by Wilson Fisk to construct the Psycho Disk in order to use it to brainwash both Captain America and Iceman.
  • In Agent Carter, Johann Fennhoff appeared in the live-action series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he was portrayed by actor Ralph Brown. This version was an operative of Leviathan and was inserted in a cover identity as a prisoner named Dr. Ivchenko. He was 'rescued' by Peggy Carter of the Strategic Scientific Reserve and the Howling Commandoes who took him back to the United States thinking he was a victim. Once there, he began working to achieve Leviathan's goals and subtly manipulated events as he sought to get the sample of the Super-Soldier Serum.
  • In Avengers Assemble, Doctor Faustus appeared as an antagonist in the animated television series episode "New Year's Resolution" where he was voiced by actor Mick Wingert. He was arrested by Peggy Carter and Howard Stark on New Years Eve in 1949 where he was placed in a trunk. However, Carter and Stark's car was brought into the present during an attack by Kang the Conqueror's robots that were posing as Hydra agents. In the chaos, Doctor Faustus managed to break free and prevented his capture by using his hypnotism to take control of the Phantom Riders biker gang. Captain America and Peggy Carter defeated the biker gang whereupon they knocked out Doctor Faustus. After Kang the Conqueror's defeat, the unconscious Doctor Faustus was taken back into the past by Howard Stark and Peggy Carter as they intended to hand him over to the authorities.
