Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Edward Elric was a short male human who stood 4'11" where he had long golden-blond hair that was usually tied in a braid that hung down to his shoulders. His speciality led to him being known as the Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師 Hagane no Renkinjutsushi, lit. "Alchemist of Steel").

Edward was the son of Trisha Elric (トリシャ・エルリック, Torisha Erurikku) and Van Hohenheim (ヴァン・ホーエンハイム, Van Hōenhaimu). In contrast, he came to loathe his father for abandoning their family especially during the years when his mother was suffering from her illness.

After getting married, he and Winry were both said to have had children together with the couple having a son and daughter.

Powers and abilities

After going through the Gate, his right leg was sacrificed with this being the price for him to see the knowledge behind it where he had knowledge regarding the secrets of alchemy directly implanted into his brain. The process led to him becoming a highly skilled alchemist and meant that he did not have to use a transmutation circle to achieve his feats. Edward simply needed to clap his hand in a gesture in order to conduct alchemy with this being a style similar to his teacher.

The dismemberment caused by his alchemy incident resulted in Edward being outfitted with full steel automail prosthetics custom crafted by Winry and Pinako Rockbell.
