History
The Empirikul
All sites of magical significance then became targets of the invaders. Thus, the Empirikul struck at the underwater Temple of Watoomb where they destroyed all magic animating the site. Whilst investigating the temple, Doctor Strange came to learn that the Empirikul invasion of Earth had already begun and he sent out a distress call on mystical wavelengths warning the planet's magicians. Among the locations targeted were Wundagore Mountain, Weirdworld, the Florida Everglades, Machu Pichu, the skies above New York, the hidden tavern called the Bar With No Doors and Doctor Strange's secret temple in the Himalayas. Doctor Strange was forced to use black magic against the initial wave of attackers which helped defend his Sanctum Sanctorum from them.
