Flux is a male comic supervillain who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Flux in Incredible Hulk v2 #17.

Benjamin Tibbets

He was with a platoon of soldiers when a gamma bomb was dropped on the area which exposed them to its radiation. Unknown to Tibbets, this was actually a deliberate experiment conducted by his commanding officer John Ryker who wanted to test the effects of gamma radiation on humans with Benjamin being the only survivor. Ryker would later claim that this was an attack perpetrated by the fugitive Bruce Banner who had allied with the Iraqi's against the U.S. government and directed Tibbet's anger at him. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17)

At some point, he was captured by A.I.M. who were conducting a series of experiments on his body. Their base was attacked by the newly created Gamma Corps where Grey was responsible for killing Flux. (World War Hulk: Gamma Corps v1 #1) After his death, his soul was shown to had ended up in Hell within the realm of Mephisto alongside other villains that had died. Sometime later, Johnny Blaze arrived in he realm with the goal of taking Mephisto's throne in order to deprive him of his power in order to thwart his scheme that he was enacting in Los Angeles. Blaze came to request the aid of the Rose with Flux being among his company but the deceased crime lord refused out of fear of Mephisto's punishment if the Ghost Rider failed in his mission. Personality and attributes

He was noted for being around 19 years old when he was serving in the army. Following his transformation, he was given a code name which was Flux. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17)

He suffered from a nervous disposition causing him to panic and overreact in situations. This became a further issue after he became a gamma mutation as he would transform into his other persona. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17)

It was noted that he had a certain degree of loyalty to the military and performed his duty under General Ryker. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17) He was trained to follow the orders of his superior officer regardless of the command given to him. This led to him accepting being a subject to gamma radiation experimentation and his resultant transformation into a gamma mutate. Benny had reasoned that he performed these deeds for his country and family. (Incredible Hulk v2 #18)

Tibbets had said that all he wanted was his mother to be proud of him. However, he was not enough of a hero for her and he strived to do some act that would get her praise. Benny had said that she did not accept anyone settling fro second best and instead wanted her son to be the best. (Incredible Hulk v2 #18)

Powers and abilities

In the military, he held the rank of Private First-Class within the U.S. Army. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17)

Exposure to the radiation from a gamma bomb thus turning him into a gamma mutate. During periods of stress, he could transform into a larger more powerful green form. This state though suffered from constant mutation where the skin would break and return back to normal. It was shown that whilst he was strong that his strength was not as powerful as the Hulk. (Incredible Hulk v2 #17)

  • Flux was created by Paul Jenkins and Ron Garney where he made his first appearance in Incredible Hulk v2 #17 (August, 2000).
