History

Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg and Holliway (GLK&H) was a law firm that operated in the modern age in North America. (She-Hulk v1 #1) One of its founders namely Holden Holliway had created a new legal division that pioneered in superhuman law so that he could keep his granddaughter the supervillain Southpaw out of prison. (She-Hulk v1 #6)

One of their cases involved representing businessman Mr. Paxton who was being sued by the state of New York for the improper storage of Antarctic Vibranium. She-Hulk led the prosecution on the case where she initially won the argument but after the firms lawyer Mallory Book argued for a mistrial due to Walters having to leave for a mission with the Avengers which was said to give her undue leverage over the jury. As a result, She-Hulk lost her job at her firm with Mr. Holliway approaching her to offer Jennifer Walters a position in his firm though stressed that he was only interested in her civilian persona and not her superpowered form. (She-Hulk v1 #1) Her first case was representing Danger Man who was a former Roxxon Energy Corporation employee who was suing for an accident that gave him superpowers. (She-Hulk v1 #2) Book and Walters were both involved in the case of the death of Bailey Briggs who was a Hammer Aeronautics engineer that had been murdered but whose ghost took part in the trial. (She-Hulk v1 #3) The firms lawyer Augustus Pugliese came to head a case of libel on behalf of Spider-Man against J. Jonah Jameson on the grounds that he slandered the name of the superhero through his Daily Bugle news paper. Ultimately, Spider-Man decided to settle the case despite being in the winning position in exchange for Jameson and Peter Parker handing out public apologies for the libel whilst dressed in chicken suits for an entire day. (She-Hulk v1 #4) The firm proceeded with representing Southpaw after she was arrested by the New Warriors and imprisoned at the Big House. (She-Hulk v1 #5) Under the Mad Thinker, the villains used the opportunity escape in a shrunken state to GLK&H where the effects of Pym Particles would wear off and allow them to return to their normal size. Their plot to escape was thwarted by She-Hulk and others at the law firm leading tot he villains arrest once again. (She-Hulk v1 #6) They were also involved in defending a claim for damages made by Constrictor against Hercules who was suing the Olympian for the sum of $168,000,000. (She-Hulk v1 #10) The Senior Partners later had a meeting with Mallory Book to discuss her performance after losing a case when the firms offices came under attack from Titania who was equipped with the Power Gem making her incredibly powerful with her seeking revenge against She-Hulk. (She-Hulk v1 #11) The firms offices were destroyed in the prison with She-Hulk working with her allies in removing the Power Gem from Titania and defeating the villain. (She-Hulk v1 #12)

The headquarters was later rebuilt with a larger and better premises as the firm began to specialise in superhuman law. By this point, Holloway had departed in search of his granddaughter who was the supervillain Southpaw. This saw Arthur Zix being appointed as his successor as the new head of the firm where he began to have its lawyers represent both heroes and villains. (She-Hulk v2 #1)

Mallory Book later came to win a landmark case whilst representing the Leader where she argued he was not responsible for his actions due to Gamma Radiation poisoning. As a result, Book was made a full partner and replaced Zix as general manager. (She-Hulk v2 #19)

Overview

In appearance, GLK&H was a law firm represented a wide range of disputes and specialised in superhuman law. This was said to be a new and uncharted area for legal professional pioneers. (She-Hulk v1 #2) The business was described as being the most prestigious law firm situated on the East Coast. (She-Hulk v1 #1) A noted quote from its head was, "When the laws of reality are broken, we shall find solutions through the laws of man." (She-Hulk v1 #2)

Freeman Bonding Inc. was noted as being a subsidiary of the law firm. (She-Hulk v2 #22) They were the only bonding agency that specialised and were willing to put bond money or supervillains. If the villain attempted to escape when on bail then an enforcement agent or bounty hunter from the firm was dispatched to apprehend them again. They offered liability cover for these designated agents though if the damages or actions were severe then they could remove this protection for the person. (She-Hulk v2 #24)

The headquarters of the law firm was located in Timely Plaza. (She-Hulk v1 #2) One section of its library was called the Attic that had stacks and real case files for humans. The other section was the Basement that had long boxes for superhuman cases that consisted of comics published by Marvel Comics which were admissible in a court of law. (She-Hulk v1 #2) The superhuman law offices were prepared for certain contingencies that allowed for an impenetrable forcefield to be created around the building to protect it from attack or to stop supervillains from escaping the site. (She-Hulk v1 #6)

It owned the Excelsior apartment building where many of its employees were noted to reside in its rooms. (She-Hulk v1 #3)
