Biography

Jonas Graymalkin was born over two centuries ago to Charles Graymalkin and his wife Marcia Graymalkin where he grew up in a province of New York. The only son of his parents, he was said to had have a good and happy life despite the strife at the time over taxation and representation of the people in the British Parliament. The young Jonas was unconcerned as by the time he was 16 years old he was looking into his own sexuality as he was a gay man. One day, his father caught him in the barn with another boy and in a rage Charles Graymalkin lashed out at his son where he called him an abomination. He beat Jonas seemingly to death and buried his remains where he intended the ground to hide him. His father was unaware that it was then within the darkness of the earth that his mutation was triggered allowing Jonas to survive. Under the ground, he attempted to dig himself out but remained buried for the next two centuries. (X-Men: Manifest Destiny v1 #3)

Overview

Personality and attributes

He was said to be suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of being buried alive for around two centuries. (X-Men: Manifest Destiny v1 #3)

Powers and abilities

As a Mutant, Jonas’s powers included enhanced strength and agility along with signs of invulnerability. However, his powers was largely limited to areas devoid of photonic sources namely he had to reside in complete darkness which was where his Mutant abilities were triggered. It was determined that when exposed to electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 300 nm to 1400 nm which was the range of visible light then Jonas was powerless. Graymalkin was shown to had survived in complete darkness without food or drink or even air for two centuries with the darkness leading to his mutation prolonging his lifespan. (X-Men: Manifest Destiny v1 #3)
