Prince Hamlet of Denmark was urged by the ghost of his father, King Hamlet, to avenge his murder at the hands of Hamlet's uncle, Claudius. He proceeded to go on a campaign of revenge that left many deaths in its wake before he died himself, poisoned by Claudius' treachery- but managed to slay his uncle before he succumbed.
