Hal Jordan later came to Stryker's Penitentiary to recruit Hammond to help against the threat of Tomar-Tu and his Darkstars. (Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps v1 #45)
Upon arriving at the Darkstar homeworld, Hammond used his powers to effortlessly disconnect the captive Controllers from the machines that maintained the Exo-Mantle's hive-mind communication. - In Green Lantern, Hector Hammond made an appearance as an antagonist in the live-action movie where he was portrayed by actor Peter Sarsgaard. He was shown as being the son of United States Senator Robert Hammond with his father being disappointed in Hector. Hammond engaged in the sciences where he became a high school professor who was close friends with Hal Jordan and Carl Ferris. However, he held romantic desires on Carol but did not act on them. He was enlisted by the Department of Extranormal Operations Dr. Amanda Waller to study the corpse of the deceased alien known as Abin Sur. During the autopsy, he became infected with DNA from the alien Parallax that began to mutate Hammond giving him an enlarged cranium and telepathic as well as telekinetic powers.
