Hive (Resident Evil)

The Hive was a vast underground research facility which existed beneath Raccoon City, and was owned and operated by the Umbrella Corporation. It was home to roughly 500 employees of varying professions (mostly scientists) and was Umbrella's primary center for T-Virus research. Because the Hive was so vast, Umbrella commissioned Dr. Charles Ashford to design an advanced A.I. system to maintain the facility, resulting in the creation of the Red Queen. Although the Hive itself presumably remains beneath Raccoon City, all of the people who lived and worked there were killed when Spencer Parks' (Percival Parks) attempt to steal the T-Virus resulted in its escape into the Hive's ventilation system.
