Biography
Isaac Netero (Japanese: アイザック゠ネテロ, Hepburn: Aizakku Netero)
Training in the martial arts, he came to sequester himself in the mountains when he was 46 years old. He was grateful to his martial arts training where he conducted a daily routine consisting of ten thousand punches and prayers. Initially, it took him 18 hours to complete his ten thousand punches whereupon he would collapse from exhaustion into a deep sleep. After which, he would awaken and repeat the process in the next day with this being the case for the next 2 years. This was until one day when he noticed that he completed his ten thousand punches before the sun had even set. Two years later, he was 50 years old when he was capable of conducting his ritual under an hour. This led to him spending his extra time in prayer that led to him seeking out enlightenment. Netero eventually descended from the mountain and returned to his dojo in order to demonstrate his strength. The training he had undergone increased his speed to an incredible level where he amaze every in the dojo. Even the dojo's grandmaster was moved to tears a the raw power and grace that Netero had attained through his training. Breaking down at Isaac's feet, he begged to be trained and offered the man his position as grand master. In response, Netero came to accept on the light hearted condition that they eat first whereupon the dojo began training in Shingen-ryu kung fu.
It was known that he fought Maha Zoldyck and became an acquaintance of the Zoldyck Family. Afterwards, he would become a Hunter where he joined the ranks of the Pure Paladin Squad as he became part of the Hunter Association. In that time, he took part in two expeditions to the Dark Continents with one of these being unofficially where he managed to return alive both times. For the unofficial expedition, he came to joined by two of his friends who were Zigg Zoldyck and Linne Horsdoeuvre. However, the experience left him feeling unsatisfied as living on the Dark Continent was a constant test of survival whereas Isaac wanted to be able to triumph against an opponent and attain victory through his strength alone. At some point, he was noted to had a son who was named Beyond Netero whose existence was kept hidden from the world. He was noted to had once told his son to never venture to the Dark Continent and even came to convince the V5 that it was a forbidden region even for the Hunter Association.
Chairman Netero came to oversee the Second Phase of the 287th Hunter Exam when Satotz called to tell him that Menchi has lapsed back into her old bad habits again. When Beans asks him what they should do, he replies that he has no other choice and that he will come in person. He then jumps from the airship landing on the ground with tremendous force, without receiving any injuries, making everyone wonder who he is. Netero criticizes Menchi's attitude as an examiner and orders her to have a new test, in which she must participate in. This time Menchi asks them to make boiled Spider Eagle's eggs, which hang on the spider's web between two sides of a ravine. Netero watches as the participants start to take the eggs, impressed that many of them were able to obtain the eggs and make it back up. As the applicants and examiners board the airship, Netero formally introduces himself as the Chairman of Hunter Exam Selection Committee, followed by Beans who announces that the airship will arrive at their destination at 8 a.m. After that short briefing, everyone is allowed to do as they pleased. While Gon and Killua were talking together, he made a little trick to make them feel like they're being watched from the other side of the corridor and then comes from the opposite side. Killua who realizes this giving him a suspicious look. Netero then invites both of them to play a game with the reward is becoming a Hunter directly. They only have to take a ball from Netero. The boys have made their best effort to take the ball, but to no avail. Killua, realizing Netero's skill, says that they have no chance against him, as he does not use his right arm or left leg all this time, and refuses to play any longer. Gon, however, still continues to play until Netero finally uses his right arm, much to the latter's amusement.
After the Third Phase is finished, Netero is seen inside the airship with the other examiners talking about the rookies in this year's exam. He is very impressed seeing 6 rookies of 9 applicants are able to pass the Third Phase. Satotz then asks about the Final Phase, since Buhara mentions that Netero hasn't told them yet. Netero replies that he intends to have them participate in a rather peculiar fight. He then says that he wants to talk to the 9 remaining applicants first, leaving the other examiner confused. Netero first interviews Hisoka. He asks him why he wants to be a Hunter, who he keeps an eye on, and who he doesn't want to fight. Hisoka answers all the questions while adding that he wants to fight Netero the most, and his malice seeps out. Netero has no reaction to it and casually dismisses him. The interview continues until the last applicant. Netero then returns to where the other examiners are waiting and shows them the bracket he has made. They are very surprised to see the result and asks the Chairman if he is really serious, to which he replies that he is deadly serious.
After learning of the threat of the Chimera Ants, Netero was tasked with eliminating the danger posed by the insects knowing full well that the governments of the world planned to blame the Association for any failures. He journeyed to the NGL territories where the Chimera Ants resided where he was accompanied by Morel and Knov. It was said that only a few strong fighters were to be sent as the Ants would devour weaker foes and inherit their abilities thus strengthening them further. They arrived to witness Killua carrying an unconscious Gon as the pair had escaped a Chimera Ants powerful Royal Guard warrior Neferpitou but they had to leave Kite behind. Whereas Morel believed these two junior Hunters were weak, Netero decided to pass the pair tokens and stated that they could only join the battle if they defeated Morel's pupils who also had tokens with them needing to defeat Killua and Gon in order to fight the Chimera Ants. Within the jungle, Netero determined that the emerging Chimera Ant King maybe too powerful to confront directly and the three Hunters decided to cut down the enemy forces slowly. Thus, they decided to eliminate the Chimera Ant squadrons one by one without revealing themselves or the nature of their Nen abilities. This saw Morel use his smoke power to cloud the sections of the woods where the Chimera Ant squadrons passed whereupon Knov used his portals to send the enemy into a closed off chamber to fight with Netero who effortlessly killed his opponents. Through such means, the Hunters managed to eliminate entire squadrons of Chimera Ants with the enemy struggling to combat this strategy.

Personality and attributes
In appearance, Isaac Netero was seemingly a helpless old man who was surprisingly fit and muscular for his age. He maintained a ponytail, a thick beard, and stretched earlobes with two piercings in both ears.
On the surface, he showed himself to be an energetic, playful and mischievous who sometimes was seemingly absentminded.
For a long time, he sought the height of perfection where he dreamed of giving his heart and soul to battle an unstoppable adversary.
In his old age, he came to wait for his opponent to make the first move.
It was noted that he had a son named Beyond Netero (ビヨンド゠ネテロ, Biyondo Netero).
In the past, he came to fight and befriend Maha Zoldyck (マハ゠ゾルディック, Maha Zorudikku).
Powers and abilities
Isaac Netero was a human though one who in his youth went through an intense period of martial arts training and prayer to achieve enlightenment. When he was 50 years old, he attained an incredible level of raw power and was capable of striking faster than the speed of sound. He became skilled in the Shingen-ryu (心しん源げん流りゅう, Shingen-ryū—lit. "Style That Originates From The Heart") style of kung-fu and served as a grand master with him training students in the style. By his latter years, he had said that he had become weak due to age and that he was less than half his old strength. Despite his claims, Knov held the view that the older Netero was still much stronger than them. He had an impressive level of muscle control where he could prevent blood loss from a severed leg by contracting the muscles around the wound. Such was his endurance that he was able to function even after losing his limbs where he was still able to fight and speak to his opponent without any issue.
He was capable of using Nen (念ネン or ネン, Nen—lit. "Sense";[1]* "Mind Force" in the Viz trans) that helped him manipulate the aura of his own life energy. When he was younger, he was able to perform 10,000 punches whilst using Ren for 18 hours straight where he collapsed from exhaustion right after before re-starting the following morning. As a Nen User (能のう力りょく者しゃ, nōryokusha—lit. "ability person"), he was an Enhancer and was able to manifest his power as 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva (百ひゃく式しき観かん音のん, Hyakushiki Kannon) that was a giant multi-armed Nen construct in the shape of a statue of Guanyin that he could summon to aid him.
As a Hunter, he had close ties to the Hunters Association (ハンター協きょう会かい[1] or Ｈハンター協きょう会かい, Hantā Kyōkai) and in fact became its 12th Chairman.
