Jackpot (Sara Ehret)

Sara Ehret was a human woman born in the modern age with short dark hair who came to be a scientist working at Phelcorp Labs that was a subsidiary of Oscorp. She was one of a number of researchers that were conducting work into looking for a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Around 4 years ago, she was pregnant when they were using gene therapy as a possible solution where they created Lot 777 that was virus designed to rewrite older genes to create new ones. During testing, she was accidentally exposed and was left comatose for four months where she made an apparent recovery. Ehret later gave birth to a daughter with her partner where they was apparently no side effects from Lot 777. This was until one day an incident caused falling debris to nearly drop on them but Sara showed super-strength that she used to save her family. Upon showing powers, she went on the path to become a superhero where she underwent training as part of the Initiative program and took the name Jackpot. Despite this, she actually did not like the life of being a hero and wanted to be normal. One day, she was operating as a hero when she drew the attention of a civilian named Alana Jobson who was enamoured with the life of a hero. The two became friends with Sara confiding in her that she never wanted to be a superhero and instead wanted to live an ordinary life. Jobson then suggested that she take her superhero persona as she wanted to be a hero. Ehret agreed and returned to her family life whilst Alana continued being Jackpot where she fought crime. This remained the case until Jobson's death leading to Sara resuming her prior superhero identity as Jackpot once again. Her reclaiming her superhero identity led to her activities affecting the criminal operation of the new Rose. He came to send Boomerang after Jackpot where the hired assassin targeted her family with him killing Sara's husband right in front of her and her daughter. Jackpot (Alana Jobson)

Alana Jobson was a female human born in the modern age where she lived in New York City. After the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act, she came to meet Ehret and sensed an opportunity to fulfil her longstanding dream of becoming a hero. Sara Ehret had the powers and Initiative training but no longer wanted to be a hero but rather live an ordinary life. Meanwhile, Jobson wanted to live her life and came to purchase her superhero identity for herself and used pharmaceuticals derived from Ehret to give her temporary powers. This allowed her to take the superhero persona of Jackpot for herself and she began to operate as a vigilante on the streets and fought crime. (Amazing Spider-Man Annual v1 #35) With the identity, she came to be considered a registered hero allowing her to operate without any issue from the authorities at the time. Seeing the new Goblin as her arch-nemesis, Jackpot began hunting criminals on the streets for clues on the 'Gray Goblin'. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #459)
As Jackpot she followed Spider-Man in his confrontation with Blindside who was being aided by his supervillain girlfriend Commanda. Jobsons arrival helped turn the tide and led to the defeat of Blindside. However, Jackpot then suffered a shock in her system as a result of a fatal combination of drugs within her system. This caused her to fall into a myocardial infraction and she died as a result in Spider-Man's arms. After her death, Spider-Man visited Sara Ehret and told her about Alana's death with this being her responsibility for having passed the Jackpot persona to Jobson. (Amazing Spider-Man Annual v1 #35)
Overview
In appearance, Jackpot was a costumed identity assumed by a woman who operate as a street-level vigilante with her most distinctive feature being her long red hair. (Free Comic Book Day Vol 2007 #Spider-Man v1 #1) The original Jackpot gained her power from Lot 777 that was a gene therapy produced virus that rewrote her cellular structure and imparted her superpowers. These included enhancements to her natural traits such as giving her super-strength. (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot v1 #1)
The second Jackpot was an ordinary human being but one who gained superpowers through the use of the original. This involved pharmaceuticals that included Human Growth Hormone, Mutant Growth Hormone, anabolic steroids, amphetamines, epinephrine, paracetamol, and a COX-2 inhibitor. (Amazing Spider-Man Annual v1 #35) These afforded her a degree of superhuman abilities including strength and a limited amount of invulnerability. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #459)
Jackpot was known to use a grapple gun that she used to scale structures and sometimes even as a weapon against a villain. (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot v1 #1)
