Biography
Jonathan Archer
In 2111, he was a young boy when he and his father helped him build model ships. At that time, he was always keen on hearing about his fathers development of the Warp Five engine for mankind. It was during this time that he began to resent the Vulcan people as he believed they had held mankind back. (ENT: Broken Bow)
In 2151, Archer was inspecting the newly built NX Enterprise when he received a call from Admiral Forrest. This involved contact with a new alien species known as a Klingon when a courier from their race had crash landed on Earth after being pursued by the Suliban. The Klingon Klaang managed to kill his pursuers but was critically wounded by a human farmer who mistakenly believed him to be an aggressor. The Vulcans had intervened in the diplomatic incident where they recommended to let the Klingon die from his injuries as their race believed in dying with honour rather than return injured. In addition, Ambassador Soval suggested that they postpone the launch of the Enterprise until the incident was resolved. However, Captain Archer refused and suggested that the Enterprises maiden voyage be returning Klaang back to his homeworld. Admiral Forrest came to agree after Jonathan promised to quickly gather his crew together for the mission and the ship managed to launch despite not having all its systems equipped. As a condition of the launch, the Vulcans had T'Pol assigned to the human vessel to serve as science officer and guide for the mission until its completion. During their journey, the ship was boarded by the Suliban who captured Klaang and took him away with T'Pol believing that Enterprise should return to Earth as their mission was a failure. However, Captain Archer instead wanted to recover the Klingon courier and continue the mission where he had the ship travelled to the Rigel system to search for clues as it had been one of Klaang's former destinations. Whilst there, the away team was captured by Suliban led by Sarin where she revealed that the people who had taken Klaang were from the Cabal. This group were receiving orders from someone from the future who had directed their activities and that she had broken away from them. Sarin revealed that she had given Klaang information that indicated that seeming in-fighting within the Klingon Empire was the result of staged attacks by he Suliban Cabal in order to provoke a civil war amongst the Klingons. The away team then got attacked by Cabal agents with Sarin being killed and Archer was injured that left him briefly unconscious. When he recovered, he thought that T'Pol had scrubbed the mission and sent Enterprise on a course for Earth. However, he was surprised to find that she had continued the search as she knew it was the Captain's wish. They eventually tracked a trail to a gas giant where they found that the Cabal had a hidden space station within the planetoid. Attempts to probe the area were repelled by the Suliban with Captain Archer having Enterprise capture one of the cell ships and use it to infiltrate the station. Alongside Trip Tucker, they entered the station where they recovered Klaang and activated an magnetic device that caused the space station to break-up. Archer was briefly left behind on the station where he encountered a high ranking Cabal agent called Silik but managed to be recovered by Enterprise. They then continued their mission to Qo'noS where they brought Klaang before the Klingon High Council with this averting a war within their empire. The success of the mission led to Starfleet allowing for Archer to continue Enterprises mission of exploration and he requested T'Pol remain as science officer for the ship with her informing the Vulcan High Command that she would remain on the human ship for the time. He was then approached by Daniels where Captain Archer told the crewman to speak to one of the senior officers. However, Daniels stated that he had reason to believe that a Suliban Cabal soldier was on-board the ship. He then requested Archer to meet him in his quarters and revealed that he was not really a Starfleet officer. In fact, he was not native to this era as he was an agent of a time travelling organisation that patrolled the timestream to prevent any undue changes to history. Jonathan was convinced after seeing the advanced future technology at Daniels disposal with the time traveller stating that this era was involved in a Temporal Cold War with the Suliban working for one of the factions. The recent incident that nearly destroyed Enterprise was due to the intervention of Silik with Daniels looking to capture the Cabal agent but needed the help of a small number of the Starfleet crew. This involved linking the internal sensors with Daniels equipment but just as he was finished Daniels came to be killed by Silik. Using Daniels equipment, Archer was in pursuit but failed in stopping the Suliban warrior from escaping the ship but did prevent him in taking Daniels technology to his master. In the aftermath, Captain Archer debated on how to file a report and had Daniels former quarters sealed as they did not know what other secrets the time traveller had left behind on the ship.
