The Judas Chalice is an artifact that featured in The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice.
History
The Judas Chalice was a mystical artifact that was derived from the thirty pieces of silver that was given to Judas Iscariot for his part in the betrayal of Jesus Christ. Judas Iscariot hanged himself on a tree after the betrayal where it was said that he was cursed by God to wander the lands forever thus turning him into the first Vampire. Thus, according to legend, the Chalice was seemingly linked to Vampires and had the power of resurrecting these slain undead beings. It was believed that this origin would explain the reason why vampires were aversed to silver due to the original thirteen coins, their hatred of the cross, holy water being able to hurt them and the stake being from the aspen tree that was the one that Judas hung himself. As a result, the stake was the only means of killing a true vampire. It remained on the world for countless years until the 13th century where French monks hid it whereupon they removed it in order to take the artifact far from Romania. As a result, the Judas Chalice was brought to the United States where it was hidden in New Orleans. Trails and artifacts that spoke about the Chalice was present on small relics that spoke about it. These dated as far back as the early 1800's where they spoke about the Loa protecting the relic when actually the monks hid it. The structure designed to hold it required a piece of silver in order to open it and allow an individual to gain access to the Chalice.
In 2008, the body of Vlad Dracul was removed and attempts were being made to awaken him by finding the Judas Chalice. At the same time, a Librarian by the name of Flynn Carsen where he decided to uncover the mystery relating to the relic.
Overview
This item was said to be capable of bringing the dead back to life. It was made from the thirty pieces of silver that Judas Iscariot received for betraying Jesus, this chalice holds the power to bring back Vlad Dracula. The power of the Chalice had the ability to resurrect dead vampires and bestow on living vampires ultimate strength as well as speed.
According to a coin dating to the 1800's that was written in inscriptions that were a mixture of Latin:
- "Even into her night, the queen of the Loa guards the cup of the daggerman."
The daggerman in Latin was Sicarius which was believed to be the entymology of Iscariot thus linking it to Judas Iscariot. As a result, the cup of the daggerman translated to mean the Judas Chalice.
