Biography

Kade Kilgore was the son of noted arms manufacturer Carlton Kilgore who established himself as a rich businessman that sold weapons. At some point, his wife passed away with his father caring for Kade who was noted for his great intelligence. When he was ten years old, he decided that he wanted to kill his father and take control over his company. To that end, he began to plot where he made use of a Life Model Decoy to operate in his stead at school. Despite his grades falling, his father never noticed with Kade attributing this to the fact that he was never an attentive parent. He also then began to convince her fathers driver Bessy to side with him in his eventual plot to murder Carlton Kilgore. It involved years of him to blackmail the Board of Directors of his fathers company and forcing them to install him as the new C.E.O. of Kilgore Arms. The opportunity finally presented itself when Kade was now twelve years of age with him making his move. At the time, an arms conference was called together with Cyclops intending to participate as the Mutant head of the nation of Utopia. In an effort to sabotage the X-Men, Kade Kilgore used light-bending technology and a psi-proof helmet to infiltrate Utopia where he helped in the re-incorporation of the Mutant known as Quentin Quire. Thus, he freed the powerful psionic for him to cause a ruckus during the conference that was being held in Switzerland and concerned the global use of Sentinels. Quire used his powers to cause the delegates to reveal personal secrets about themselves with his father Carlton being an attendee who was not affected. He used the incident to spark increased sales of weapons in order to gain a profit from the surge in anti-Mutant sentiment. Carlton Kilgore then went into his flying car that was piloted by his driver Bessy which was when Kade revealed himself waiting in the vehicle and holding a gun to his father. He showed that Bessy had sided with him as she did not appreciate her employer sexually harassing her. Kade then shot his father and dumped his body out of the car leaving the corpse on a frozen mountain. As the new Kilgore head, he made his move to be initiated into the ranks of the Hellfire Club as the new Black King as they were impressed with his efforts. (X-Men: Schism v1 #1)

To his surprise, he found that Wolverine had opened up the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning and was admitting new students. Kilgore then approached the gates of the school where he revealed to Logan that he was responsible for the recent hardships that fell on the X-Men and that he was the new Black King of the Hellfire Club. Kade then vowed that he would see to it that the school was to be destroyed as he could not have an institution that worked towards Human/Mutant cooperation as this would affect his profits. (Wolverine and the X-Men v1 #1) Their plot was thwarted when Quentin Quire helped calm Krakoa who ended up joining the X-Men with the remaining attacks neutralised. Wolverine then arrived at the scene forcing Kilgore and his compatriots to retreat. Afterwards, he was met with by Matt Murdock who revealed that Wolverine was suing Kade Kilgore for the sum of $879 million dollars for damages made against the school. In the aftermath, Kilgore became more determined in destroying the school and Wolverine where he decided to enlist the services of Sabretooth to help him in this endeavour.
