History
Origin
The company was created by businessman Thomas M. Kord who founded KORD (Blue Beetle v2 #24) which stood for Kord Omniversal Research and Development. (DC Universe Legacies v1 #10) Following his college studies, Ted Kord joined his father's company's KORD, Inc. Research and Development department. (Secret Origins v2 #2) The newly formed Justice League went to Kord Industries in order to get a new security system for their headquarters and met Ted Kord. (Justice League: Year One v1 #3) After the death of Thomas Kord's wife, he became consumed by grief leading to his son Ted Kord assuming full responsibility of running the company. (Blue Beetle v2 #24) After the destruction of KORD's corporate headquarters by Carapax, Thomas Kord re-established control over the company and ousted his son Ted Kord. This led to Ted becoming a resident at the Justice League International's embassy at New York. (Blue Beetle v2 #24)
Kord Industries was suffering from financial woes but a deal with a major aircraft manufacturer was expected to had helped the company. (L.A.W. v1 #1)
Using capital from a prior venture, he managed to seemingly regain control of his father's control. (L.A.W. v1 #1) Much of the effort was placed in the Kordtronics consumer division. (Birds of Prey v1 #15) Initially, this was not able to stem the mediocre profits that KordCo was generating at the time. (Birds of Prey v1 #35) Despite this being the case, the company remained a prospective acquisition to other arties with one attempted hostile takeover attempt being made against the business. Green Arrow broke into Kord Industries in order to use an old Justice League transporter tube to allow him to access the Justice League Watchtower. (Green Arrow v3 #19)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. The elder Kord had created Kord Industries with an eye towards innovation. (Blue Beetle v10 #1)
Ted Kord later did a guest talk at an El Paso high school where he offered his company as a place for those that had an eye towards technological innovation. (Blue Beetle v10 #1)
Kord Industries was said to be responsible in helping to build the Hall of Justice. (Heroes in Crisis v1 #4)

A number of branches in the company included:
- Blue and Gold Software' : created with Booster Gold with Kord helping his friend in making it. (DCU Heroes Secret Files v1 #1)
- Kordtronics, Inc. : a consumer electronics division of the company. (Birds of Prey v1 #15)
Among the company's creations included the:
- Sunspore : an experimental starprobe project that was developed by Kord Inc. and designed to be launched into the Sun itself. (Blue Beetle v1 #21)
In addition, Kord Omniversal were noted to had produced a series of advanced microchips. (52 v1 #6)
One of their corporate headquarters was situated on Lakeshore Drive in Chicago. (Blue Beetle v1 #1)

- Kord Enterprises was created by Steve Ditko where it made its first appearance in Captain Atom v1 #83 (November, 1966).
Alternate Versions
- In Convergence: Blue Beetle v1 (2015), Hub City from Earth-4 was taken by Brainiac and placed on the living planet Telos. This city had Kord Industries whose corporate office was the tallest building in he settlement. Its CEO was Ted Kord and his secretary Tracy helped him as he attempted to find a way outside the Bottle City's dome.
In other media
Television
- In Smallville, the company makes an appearance in the episode "Booster" where it was managed by Ted Kord. It was revealed that one of its researchers was Dan Garrett and it studied the Blue Beetle Scarab that later attached itself to Jaime Reyes.
- In Young Justice, Kord Industries made an appearance in the animated series which was owned by Ted Kord. It was shown in "Before the Dawn" that the Reach Scarab was being studied by the company when an explosion erupted with Kord being killed by the Light. The Scarab survived the explosion where it bonded with Jaime Reyes who was passing by at the time.
- In the Arrowverse, Kord Industries made a number of appearances in the shared continuity setting.
- In Arrow, Kord Industries was referenced a number of times in the live-action television series. Adrian Chase made use of their technology to operate a device that masked his digital image from any camera allowing him to remain as Prometheus when he operated as the criminal. Felicity Smoak and Curtis Holt broke into Kord Industries in order to find a means through the encryption and find a counter to the masking technology.
- In The Flash, Kord Industries was referenced in the live-action television series set in the Arrowverse in the episode "Abra Kadabra". Abra Kadabra attacked Kord Industries in order to steal technology from it when The Flash confronted him. In "Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash," a new Kord Industries building was being unveiled when it was shrunk and stolen by Dwarfstar.
Video games
- In Batman: Arkham Knight, Kord Industries Gotham Branch was shown in Gotham City.
Other
- In Batman vs. Superman, the viral website linked to the movie had Kord Industries mentioned. It was among the key players in the 2015 defense budgets where it made $707 million. The company was said to be the foremost in the field for over two decades.
