Biography

Origin

Elizabeth Allan

After her parent's re-marriage, she gained a step-brother named Mark Raxton with the two growing up together. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #133)

She came to be Flash Thompson's girlfriend with Peter Parker also liking her at the time. However, Allan considered Parker to be something of a loser and even took part in the general ridicule her suffered on a regular basis. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #1) She was flighty and rather thoughtless -- not outright cruel, but lacking the empathy necessary to detect Peter's good points. At one point, paradoxically, she developed a crush on Spider-Man, blowing off both Flash Thompson and Peter Parker because she believed the costumed hero would call her. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #5) Over time, however, she began to admire Peter's intelligence and developed some degree of affection for the former 'bookworm'. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #12) By this time, ironically, Peter's interest had waned considerably noting that Liz never showed any real interest in him until he began dating Betty Brant. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #13) Peter and Liz graduated from high school. At the graduation ceremony, Liz admitted her feelings to Peter, but told him that they could not be together and left shortly afterwards. Meanwhile, Peter in his guise as Spider-Man battled Liz's stepbrother who by this time had become the Molten Man. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #28)

Liz Allan-Osborn

Alchemax

Upon regaining consciousness, her brother Mark noted that the babysitter Emma had kidnapped the children. Though Harry panicked, Liz reassured him as she called Alchemax security and revealed that she had a tracker on Normie. Together, they confronted Emma with Harry believing that the babysitter had been sent by Norman Osborn. Emma stated that she had taken the children to protect them from Norman with them chasing after her bringing danger to Normie and Stanley. It was then that Norman arrived where he transformed into his Red Goblin persona and easily dealt with the guards. He then revealed that the babysitter was actually Emma Lyman who was Norman's wife and Harry's mother who had somehow faked her death. Before he could kidnap them, he was attacked by Spider-Man's allies allowing for Liz and the others to escape. However, the Red Goblin defeated the superheroes before attacking the Osborn family where he took Normie Osborn and infected him with the Symbiote. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #799)

Liz came to be blackmailed into collaborating with the Life Foundation and the Friends of Humanity. Allan had Dr. Steven and Dr. Zhi among others of her employees experiment on Symbiotes in hopes of using them to improve lives. With the assistance of Archer Lyle, Alchemax kidnapped Eddie's son Dylan to perform experiments on him since he was a human and symbiote hybrid, only for him to escape. (Venom v5 #4)

Overview

Personality and attributes

After taking control of a Symbiote, she came to take the name Misery. (Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #1)

Unknown to her even, she maintained a lot of hidden anger and aggression in her. (Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #2)

He came to call her 'Aunt Liz' with Allan being careful to not expose him to traumatic events. (Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #2)

Powers and abilities

Misery in Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #1.

By accident, she came to be bonded to an experimental Symbiote that was being studied at Dr. Steven's at Alchemax. At the time, experiments were being made on the Carnage strain of the Symbiotes. It came to be bonded with Anti-Venom formula where the two struggled for dominance over one another. Later on, Alchemax came under attack leading to the Carnage strain and Anti-Venom formula accidentally bonding with Liz Allan. Through sheer force of will, she was able to take control of the creature that became her Symbiote. (Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #1) Unlike a normal Symbiote, this version had no effect on her brain at all. In fact, her own aggression was needed to tame the suit. One aspect of Misery was it was able to regenerate and recombine body parts of its host. This allowed Liz to surviving being ripped in half with her body simply reconstituting the two parts together with ease. (Cult of Carnage: Misery v1 #2)
