Mesmero is a male comic supervillain who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Origin

Vincent was a male human Mutant who came to develop green skin and manifest the ability to control the minds of others. From a young age, he was noted to had experienced abuse at the hands of his father who later left his life. By this point, Vincent began to make full use of his powers to control the minds of others. This included forcing others to do his school work and having his way with girls causing his own mother to receive many complaints about him. (Weapon X v2 #8)

At some point, his mother became ill and Mesmero came to use his powers to make her life comfortable. This included mind controlling people to care for her and having doctors in the house to treat her. He even used his abilities on his mother to make her seem health to herself and to hypnotise her pain away. (Weapon X v2 #8)

Personality and attributes

It was later revealed that his actual name was Vincent. (Weapon X v2 #8)

He was shown to had cared for his mother and used his powers to ensure that she always had help with her in her home. His care of his mother and ensuring she did not feel pain was perhaps the only good thing he had done in his life. Despite his actions, his mother did say she loved her son and he came to mourn her death. (Weapon X v2 #8)

Powers and abilities

Mesmero was a Mutant who was able to control others with his ability with him able to paralyse a person causing them to remain still. (X-Men v1 #49)

Using his powers, he could mind control others and force them to serve as his minions. (X-Men v1 #49)

  • Mesmero was created by Arnold Drake, Don Heck, and Werner Roth where he made his first appearance in X-Men v1 #49 (October, 1968).

  • In X-Men: Evolution, Mesmero appeared in the setting of the animated television series where he was voiced by actor Ron Halder in a Middle-Eastern accent.
