Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different series of events.
Her father was John King who was a philanthropist that was ranked as the third richest man in the world behind the likes of Bruce Wayne as well as Lex Luthor. Whilst seemingly a humanitarian, he hid a darker nature where he forced people to work for him by placing them in his eternal debt. At some point, Mia and her mother moved to Seattle where her mother discovered King's true nature leading to him murdering her. Mia witnessed the act and fled the house where she was on the run as her father tried to get her killed in order to preserve his secret. (Green Arrow v5 #37)

- Mia Dearden was created by Kevin Smith and Phil Hester where she first appeared in Green Arrow v3 #2 (May, 2001) and later debuted as Speedy in Green Arrow v3 #44 (January, 2005).
